  1. Spent the evening at the unveiling of the new Orange County Chopper Hybrid Bike and spent a little time chatting with Paul Sr. Guy is much shorter than I thought.

    Watches

I haven't done a whole lot of research yet but I remember a house watch from Wempe here in NY. Large pilots watch, sort of like a large Sinn but a bit dressier. I also thought about going smaller and getting an Omega Speedmaster and a Sinn 356. I will probably just end up picking up a Panerai as they have routinely been some of my favorites during my watch shop trips over the years.
  3. I am trying to figure out how to pass through 24/192 over Firewire into the PWD via the ULN-2 as a FW interface but I have been unsuccessful.
  4. Mike, are you running FW into the ULN-2 and then digital cable into the PWD?

The smallest watch I wear is a 40mm and I think it is a bit small for my wrist. I really like the big watches but I tend to go with something smaller, less noticeable for a daily beater. That being said it is bonus time again and I intend to buy a watch or two. I have seen some really interesting watches in this thread and the big ones always catch my eye so I will probably lean towards a 46mm size this time.
  6. Ah the Ayre Fanboy is trying to cause problems. Input envy is tough man.
  7. As I have said previously I really like the PWD. I would say it gets close to equal playing time with the dCS Paganini stack simply because I often feel it is more involving than the dCS which is one of those DACs that knock you out at first but you find yourself not really getting into the music. I definitely prefer the PWD to all of my other DACs.
  8. Some tips for the new adopters. When you turn the unit on and the Initializing screen comes up touch the screen for a couple of seconds and the options screen will appear. On this you can adjust some things like the auto dimming feature and a few other behind the scenes things. I really like mine on Filter 3 with no upsampling but Filter 1 is the fancy filter with apodizing whatevers.
  9. Though I would never have the slightest need for an Oscilloscope I have always wanted one of those on my tool bench to look cool.
  10. I am trying to catch up on reading the books I am constantly buying since getting this Kindle.

Or you could just loan it to me for the next few months and I will gladly carry it there and back for you.
  13. No, I told you to get a turntable and forget this digital crap. Now you need Amarra and I can let you "borrow" a hard drive full of Hi-Res for testing.
  14. I am in regardless, but if it has that feature that would be great. Using the MacBook Pro for that now but a slick little tablet to do that and search the web from my listening chair would be appealing.
  15. A Sabre DAC in a Rx size and form factor would be interesting. Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - ALO USB DAC
  16. So you are running it via Firewire to the Esoteric and you are getting sound cut outs?
  17. Then if you have 24/192 music on your computer then the full version would make sense. I don't really have any need to go above 24/96 I am using the 24/96 limited asynch USB of the dCS.
  18. Does your Esoteric take 24/192 over firewire? I know the Ayre will take it over USB eventually.
  19. That was my first ever CD. I am listening to Kaki King.
  20. Happy Birthday Dom.
  21. Congrats to both Todd and Stretch. I bought AT ESW9s and another ALO RX amp.
  22. I have actually been listening to the woodied HF-1s more than the HF-2 lately but I don't really see selling them unless I get a big offer for the matching pair. I like the HF-2s and definitely think they do many things very well.
  23. So I am thinking about replacing the 7 year old Dynavector DV-20 on my bedroom Turntable. It has been so long since I bought a cartridge I am not even sure I remember how to mount one but I guess I will have to try. Anyone with a VPI or with more knowledge than I about matching cartridge to tonearm have any recommendations? Probably $2k or less. VPI Scoutmaster>Acoustech PHD phono preamp.
  24. On Vinyl.

Thanks for the Heads up Jim. I booked my room for Thursday-Sun with no issues.
