  1. "Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt is a meticulous re-creation of the original malt whisky shipped to Antarctica in 1907 by the explorer Ernest Shackleton to fortify his 'Nimrod' expedition. The story of how several wooden crates of this precious whisky were abandoned to the Antarctic winter in early 1909, then rediscovered over a century later, is one that celebrates the enduring spirit of both man and malt. You can read all about the journey and re-discovery on this site, and we also reveal how this unique whisky was carefully re-created for you to savour and enjoy." The rest of the story. http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/shackletons-whisky-mackinlays-rare-old-highland-malt/
  2. Just returned from a gift exchange lunch with Dinny. I feel that I was completely spoiled by my exchange partner with a great meal at Smith & Wollensky's and the coolest bottle of Whisky evar. I like my booze with a great story. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.750014,-73.975040
  3. If Fuji doesn't completely revamp the user interface and function from the X100 I have now I don't think I will be buying.
  4. I can get the 5DmkII gripped/L-bracketed/quick release/R-Strap with 50 f1.2 on and the 35 and 16-35 on the sides if I lose their hoods. Kind of a finicky bag with all of the clasps and flaps but I think with the right inserts it can be used and I like the looks a lot better than my ThinkTanks.
  5. Man, these Billingham bags are aggravating. I do not know how people are fitting two pro bodies and 4 lenses in this thing, I cannot comfortably fit one with three lenses. Even then it is a major operation to get anything in or out of the bag. The little ThinkTank Retro 10 would easily fit everything I am trying to shoehorn into this much bigger bag with no problem. The crappy inserts that come with it will not hold anything buy kit lenses so I bought all the extras and that takes up extra space. Maybe the 435 could be the Nex 7 bag?
  6. Happy almost late Birthday Jacob.
  7. Happy Birthday
  8. Some more from Texas.
  9. Happy Birthday Ken.
  10. Sorry to hear that Mike, my condolences to you and your family.
  11. Did some nighttime shots this evening as I am finally somewhere without massive amounts of light pollution.
  12. More Unitedental Bullshit. Started taxiing for takeoff when we stopped and returned to the gate because the flight attendant had to get off and go home to deal with issues at home. Now we are waiting for a replacement and even with all this extra time and they still never got around to doing upgrades so half of first class is empty and all the people on the upgrade list sit here in Coach. A whole airline based on extreme incompetence.

Couldn't pass up that deal. I really needed another point and shoot.
  15. It was a $1200 D700. It had all the pictures and everything but I guess it must have been some kind of scam.
  16. Killer deal for the Nikon shooters. http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/pho/2759800841.html
  17. A couple glasses of this. I like it.
  18. A couple more low light samples from the S100 Freedom Tower lit up for Christmas Colin lit up by 4 Pinkaritas in a very low light restaurant. 1/8 f2.0 ISO 1600
  19. Colin has graduated to pink mixed drinks.
  20. I don't have anywhere near that many photos but both Aperture and Lightroom have no issues dealing with my very large file size pictures. I typically have 20-30 gb per import and neither has issues. I never really liked iPhoto that much but have no complaints about Aperture/Lightroom.
  21. I guess I am being too tough on them, but I just lose faith when a technology designer states the acoustics of the dock will help with speakerphone quality and the sound typically comes out of the microphone port. It looks like it could be a decent product, I would certainly like a case agnostic dock, but I don't know that I would jump in to fund a guy's business based upon that pitch.
  22. There is no engineering in a chunk of aluminum. My main concern is the guy cannot spell or refer properly to the basic parts of the phone he is making this for so I have major doubts he can do anything to make this a worthwhile product.
  23. I am not sure I could buy something from a company with so many factual and spelling errors in their marketing materials. I still haven't figured out how to get sound out of my microphone jack.
  24. Too bad I couldn't break the 100 point threshold during the regular season.
