It definitely is a bit different but I do enjoy the layout/function of the D3. I am not as happy with the quality of the lens. I expect a $2,000 lens to have very smooth zoom and focus controls. This one seems to function about like a $200 lens. I very much like the focus speed with the Nikon in low light. Dramatically better than the 5D and I think maybe even faster than the 1D mk IV in low light.

Took the Nikon out for a night on the town. Started by testing the lens/camera setup on the very difficult red and pasty white colors. Then went to Grand Central to see the Constellations. and checked out the stage for the world's largest Squash Tournament. Then jumped on the train over to Times Square Took a picture of this joint just so I would remember to tell Colin they are selling his favorite food out of a box.

I will compare it to the 1D mk IV as I sold my 7D to Salty when I got the 1D.

No, I am taking the time to familiarize myself with this Nikon as people are dumping them for the new D4. Then I will decide whether to get the D4 or wait for the 1Dx.

The Nikon experiment has begun. First surprise, Nikon screws their lenses in backwards. This is very different than my Canons but the size/weight feels good and the build quality or the CF door alone is far ahead of the 5D mk II. Seems to be just about as complicated at the 1D mk IV.

So you basically did the entire process of taking the picture through processing in your dark room? That is so cool.

I gave up as well. Mine has been unused now since about the second week I owned it.

Man Ari, you must be busy with all your weekend clubs. Photo, Audio Society, Headphone Molesters Anonymous Did you ever develop your Zoo shots? I have been seeing cameras like yours on CL and while they are gorgeous, I do not think I have the skill or patience to work in film. That club looks like an interesting one. I have not found many group outings in my limited searches in the area.

That is good info. I have heard the 24 and 35 were must haves but the 50s should be passed on. I like the 50 f1.2 on the 5D a lot so I thought that would be a good start but all I have picked up yet is the 14-24.

I am liking my S100 more and more over time.

So I have purchased two Nikon bodies but no lenses. Nikon has so many acronyms I am going to have to learn to find out which lenses are worth picking up for FF camera usage. Any of the many Nikon guys/girls here have any recommendations?
