  1. Because I like toys. I carry an iPad daily, I use my Air maybe once per month. I would definitely pay for a better equipped iPad at a price equivalent to a stripped down MBA.
  2. That is some serious macro. I am playing with my Macro lens but nothing very interesting. 100% Crop Such a narrow depth of view.
  3. Nope, I am only using primes on the 5D mk II. I am also unloading the 1D IV as I do not really like using it as much as the pro Nikon body.
  4. I got notice yesterday that the D4 release has been delayed at least a month and that numbers will be very low early in the release. At this point I could probably have the D800 before I get a D4. I did get the Nikon 70-200 last night. Once again, I prefer the Canon version in fit and finish. I will have to try it out this weekend to see how it stands up in image quality.
  5. That was all done in post from a P&S picture.
  6. Yeah the file size of the 5D mk II RAW images was always my major complaint with the camera. Can't imagine dealing with 700+ 60mb files in transferring and manipulation. I am actually contemplating trading one of the 5Ds for a D700 as it seems like an excellent small D3. I am actually enjoying the Nikon experience quite a bit. So different than the Canon experience. I still greatly prefer the Canon lenses though.
  7. Thanks everyone. Mike I was actually a nice little kid. I didn't realize my proclivity for torture until later in life.
  8. Never have liked any of the Aeron's I have had in the office. The Acuity we have now is really quite nice though.
  9. It is the new version. I really wanted a small zoom with good quality so this will work well plus give me macro capabilities.
  10. Any of you guys have portfolios set up at 500px? Nice little site and some really talented photogs on there.
  11. One with the Sigma 150 macro. I am going to have to study up on this as it is very different than any lens I have. I did not realize the Aperture would change depending upon distance from subject.
  12. Another night, another neighborhood. This time the weird ass copper upside down elephant in very low light in Union Square. I threw in the cop car just to upset Brent.
  13. A couple from the walk home.
  14. Took the 1D mkIV out to Bryant Park on the way home tonight. Sure makes it easy to focus on moving skaters.
  15. You are going to need to start offering descriptions of what we are looking at now as your macro has become microscopic macro. Pretty neat looking image.
  16. Boney Bones Smith Evidently my bones are rather boney.
  17. Yes, I think the slimmer focal plane of the FF is the biggest cause of difference outside of WB. That and maybe a little bit the fact that the Canon is using a $1400 lens and the Nikon a $500.
  18. Trying to spend some time comparing the 1D mkIV and the D3 tonight. Nothing too involving, just a couple of snap shots at matching exif to see two very different images. I know I should really be set up on tripod, etc. but that will have to come later as I am too lazy right now. 1000 f2.2 ISO 3200 SOOC 1000 f2.2 ISO 3200 SOOC 1/320 f4.0 ISO 3200 1/320 f4.0 ISO 3200 Certainly not hard to tell apart but lens, etc. variables probably are at the root of some of the differences. Not to mention the huge WB differences on Auto WB. I can say I prefer the ergonomics and user interface of the D3 quite a bit better.
  19. Went to catch some fast paced Squash action at Grand Central. Luckily I had my sport lens 14-24 along to catch the action. Then I checked out the wares at the Grand Central Market. Picked up the Ass Reaper hot sauce that I think I saw the Chefs on Iron Kitchen use. Picked up the Cave Aged cheese I needed for my Nachos. Then took off back to the office with a quick stop to shoot the Chrysler Building. All in all not a bad lunch. Now it is time to make those Ass Reaping Cave Nachos.
  20. I got the 14-24 new at B&H. I think it's probably normal, I am just used to the very smooth 70-200 mkII which is really the only other Zoom I use. I tried to sign up over there at the cafe but never got the e-mail to allow me to sign in. All I have so far is the 14-24 and the Sigma 50 f1.4 and I picked up the Rokinon 35 f1.4 on the 375 lightning sale the other day on Amazon.
  21. I actually like the little Nikon setup so far. The rest of the people in this thread don't seem to have some issues with the picture quality but I am happy. The zoom on the 14-24 is not as smooth as I would expect. Focus seems smooth.
  22. Great shot Peter. Good to see you back on the HC Photo thread.
  23. I typically watch it on the TV when I watch it. You should try that.
  24. Happy Birthday
