It seems like completely turning it off and removing the internal memory battery is often the recommended fix when a Canon goes nuts. Have you tried a complete reset like that?

That price seems kind of high. I see the VRII going for 550-600 on Fred Miranda quite often with all accessories and a far better VR.

One of Al's recommendation is one of of my favorites. The Blues and the Abstract Truth by Oliver Nelson All time favorite is probably Dave Brubeck at Carnegie Hall. Fantastic recording and great playing. Another is Duke's Big 4 on Pablo. Excellent recording.

The X10 has issues with the white blobs and the controls are annoying.

I had the chance to attend a Midnight Ramble back in 2010 with Levon's band and Steve Earle performing.
