I have had a breakthrough. The best way to cover up the dirt flavor of the Kale is to use little to no Kale. Real cutting edge stuff here.
Apple
Strawberries
Bunch of Ice
Almond Milk
Small Handful of Kale
Chia / Flax mix
Pretty damn good.
Very impressive Nate. 50 miles on the bike non-stop seems pretty tough.
Glad to see Xavier has less crashes per mile than his dad typically sees.
Went on another awesome ride with Chris this morning. This one was his hill climb down by Mt. Vernon. Started out a bit rough when I hit the longest, steepest climb of the ride and found it pretty damn difficult. Got to the top and realized I had once again left the bike in the big ring in the upper middle of the cassette. After that it was a nice route with some decent climbs but nothing serious. Amounted to about 670' of climbing over the 20 mile ride. Not much for the real riders but dramatically better than I could do this time last year.
Oh yeah. I will pick up Alex, if he is able to come, and head to your house. I think 7:30 would be more manageable than 7:00 if I have to stop to pick him up.
Yeah, I am up for a ride. Where?
I put on the Garmin heart rate thing for the first time today. I am definitely in the Nate category with an average HR of 186. Pretty damn high.
Post ride Smoothie
Kale
Whole Peach
1/4 Cucumber
3 Strawberries
Almond Milk
Spectrum Decadent Blend Chia, Flax, Coconut and Cocoa mix.
Good, but it needs more mix I think to cover some of the dirt flavor from the Kale.
Great to hear Dan. I just got back from a short 12 mile ride. Not too bad as long as you keep moving but it is pretty damn warm when you stop for stop lights. 5 PR with the proper speed / cadence center and 2+ MPH faster avg speed. Still not going to keep up with most of you guys but I was happy holding over 20MPH for the first 8 miles.
Definitely.
I used my stand to put my new cadence / speed sensor on the Cervelo. No more 3MPH downhills for me.
Getting up early for a ride tomorrow and trying to decide whether to take out the Calfee with the new wheels or the Cervelo to see what my average speed might be without the numerous speed gaps caused by the trees.
I have the same water bottles. They work very well in the heat. I usually don't even bother with ice since I am out for an hour to an hour and a half at most.
I have made an awesome Roasted Red Pepper soup out of the Vitamix cook book in mine. Quite good.
Tonight I failed again. Evidently when you don't pay attention at the grocery store and pick up Mustard Greens instead of Kale, you get a fairly spicy smoothie.
1 Peach
3 large Strawberries
3 Chunks of Mustard Greens
Took the Calfee out to try the new wheels and check out a route that I can take to get me to my normal Trail. Bike is greatly improved by losing that pound of wheels. The ride seems to be quite a bit smoother as well, similar to that of the Titanium DeSalvo with the big 28mm tires. The route works out pretty well but is only a 2 lane road with many stretches of no shoulder so it could be rough.
