  1. We got 14.5 inches here. Easier to shovel this morning, now that it has rained all day the snow has gotten very heavy so all the procrastinators are paying for it around here.
  2. Snow shoveling sucks.

Also got a very varied selection of picks in the mail today. Red picks are part of the speed pick training system Carbon Fiber grip Jazz IIIs V-Pick starter pack Really like the V-Picks, not as good as the Blue Chips but you do get 6 for less than the price of one Blue Chip. The CF Jazz III are really small and while there is great grip they are not very smooth on the strings. Haven't watched the DVD yet to figure out how to hell to use the red ones yet.

I intend to keep all of the ones I like. I am actually already considering dumping the 000-28 so it may end up going.

Brought another one home today. I wanted to try the Gibson sound and I wanted a Sunburst Guitar so I figured I would try this one to get each. Gibson J-45 Custom. Quite a bit different than the other dreads, 1 11/16 nut, shorter scale. Plays really easy and sounds more balanced than the Martin which I can see is a little bit scooped out in the middle compared to this one. This one has more bling than I would typically look for but I think it looks okay. I also got to try out my instructor's 67 Gibson 335. Thing sounds awesome when he plays it but the neck is thin that it sounds like a mess when my fat, clumsy fingers try to play it.
  6. Well all the Nikon gear is gone. Now I need to decide if I jump back to Canon 5DmkIII or wait a bit to see if anything else pops up I find more interesting. Haven't really used my Nikon at all for months so I am not really in a rush to start buying a whole new setup.

Nope. Evidently Boucher Family owns a large property full of 150 year old forestry and they supplied the wood to all the big guys until they decided to get into the business a few years ago. Now they use their best wood on their handmade stuff. Hand carved adirondack scalloped bracing.

Left the house today intending to pick up a Collings Acoustic Guitar. Went to a few shops and tried several Collings and some Huss and Daltons and really could not find one that I liked as much as my D18. They all seemed to be less dynamic than the Martin. Tried a few brands I did not know that well including Froggy Bottom which was awesome but really a finger picking guitar that could not be played all that hard. Came across this Canadian brand that is all AAAA Andirondack tops across their lines and looked good so I tried them out. Really thought the Dreadnaught was the best I heard all day long so it came home with me. Similar to my D-18 with less bass, a bit more balanced.
  9. I have bikes, I just have no interest in riding them.
  10. My car.
  11. Finally got this after I pretty much gave up on riding. I guess I still support people not running over cyclists.

That is a beautiful guitar. I am using a Hercules stand that holds it by the neck but it does rest on the back of the guitar on the rubbery surface.

Yeah I remember you playing for us at that meet at your place out at Queens. Was wondering if you were still playing.

Thanks guys. Went ahead and ordered the stylus pick setup, some dunlop Jazz III grip picks and some different V-Picks off of Amazon to try. Heh http://www.theonion.com/articles/new-study-finds-only-88-of-guitar-center-customers,35227/

Anybody working on any songs now or does everyone here already know how to play? I am working on Greenday Good Riddance, Neil Young Heart of Gold and House of the Rising Sun. All super-easy beginner songs. I think my biggest problem at this point is holding the pick the proper way. I think it sounds much better and I have better control when I hold the pick between my thumb and my first and second fingers. Anytime I try to just use the first finger I get really heavy handed and it sounds rough, no finesse. Either way, making it all the way through Good Riddance without the pick slipping is challenging for me at this point.
  16. I couldn't even make it through one of those guy's videos with a girl in her underwear in it. I really think the focus speed and overall usability on the EOS-M is pretty good. Easier to focus up close than the Sony RX-100 MKII due to the touchscreen. I think image quality was fairly similar between the two, the Sony is just smaller so it ends up in my pocket more often. That being said, I really have not been using mine so I will probably throw the setup into my photo sale thread at some point if I can find which camera bag my 18-55 lens is in.
  17. Thanks everyone. Pretty forgettable day. Too much driving after a serious workout last night so now all I want to do is sleep.

Starting to lean more towards the D-18 with the 1-3/4" neck at this point. Might be partly because it sounds so much better than the 000-28. Not noticing a huge difference with the different neck sizes so the much fuller bass of the dreadnaught makes it my go to guitar at this point.

Hmm, I haven't even started looking at pedals. The Deer and Buffalo Horn picks have fairly high string noise but they do sound pretty good. As far as guitars go I am thinking about a large bodied semi-hollow/hollowbody electric as I tend to like a bit more size to the guitar than the Strat. I looked at a Peerless 336 knock-off and the Reverend 336. Ran into a guy at a bluegrass show last night that has a 1967 Gibson 336 for sale also. Might try that one out. I am interested in trying out the Gibson acoustic sound so I might try to pick up a Gibson acoustic or maybe even the Martin CEO-7 which is supposedly a Gibson-like guitar.
  20. I currently use Zoethecus Racks but I don't think those can be found any longer unless you find them used. I do have a DIY Archetype I built and do find it to be a pain in the ass to take down every time I move.

My Blue Chip came in while I was gone and I also picked up some custom picks made from Deer and Buffalo.

That is awesome. I have been traveling all week but I am excited to get back to my practice.
