I actually reached out to my mechanic from Fresh Bikes who is over at the other shop. He is going to build the wheels for me for beer.
-
Geez, I have never had so much trouble getting a set of wheels built. Chris' shop wants to send my hub and Alfine rear to Velocity to build the wheels so I will be without the bike for three weeks to get a freakin Dynamo installed. I am getting tired of bikes again.
-
So it looks like MTB will be next weekend while Colin is in town. Trying to find him a MTB now, I should have kept me Air9 I guess.
-
Picked up the bike and gear, Freshbikes is done for me. I am thinking about just sending all the dynamo stuff back and not even bothering. I have no need for lights that last more than 10-20 minutes per ride anyway.
-
Well the dynamo wheelset has been delayed as the shop tried to slip in the 490gm Blunts in place of the 420gm Blunt SLs that I chose. Not a huge difference but I am not trying to make this bike any heavier than it already is. I might just go pick everything up tonight and take it all to Chris' shop and give up on Freshbikes altogether. Really thinking about doing some MTBing this weekend up at Schaeffer Farms to go easy my first time on the bike in a long while.

AnandTech measures HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 audio output
VPI replied to HiWire's topic in Portable Audio
Sounds about like what I have found. Galaxy S5 has pretty weak sound quality. I typically leave it in the bag and use the iPhone for music, even with the HiRes music I have on the GS5 the iPhone is better in about every way. -
I always picture Dusty living in a purple house with purple furniture drinking grape kool-aid when he posts all the purple stuff he is buying. Have not gotten a guitar in a while so I am having a paulownia wood telecaster built with a combo set of Kinman 50s and 60s noiseless pick-ups and a fishman VT power bridge. The original intent was to match my strat but I am leaning towards an excellent cherry burst at the moment.

I ended up going light as possible and went with and for the rack with brake lights based upon the dynamo detecting I have applied the brakes. Pretty slick and much cheaper than going with the big lights when it is never really all that dark where I am commuting. Now I need to decide if I will just have the Hub built into the existing Alex DA22 rims or go for a set of Velocity Blunt rims and needing to have the rear wheel rebuilt as well.

Thanks Ari, the shop thinks I just need the Eyc or IQ Premium Cyo so I might just save the cash as I do not really intend to do any "real" nighttime riding, just short trips home from the train or gym. Does your Brompton have a rack or do you just camp very efficiently?

Trying to choose a Dynamo headlight. I have kind of narrowed it down to one of three. Busch and Muller Luxos U with the sweet USB charger port. The Schmidt Edelux II Or the Supernova I am thinking Ari might be the only one with a Dynamo but I figured I would poll the masses to see if anyone has any experience with any of these or others. I am using a Schmidt Son 28 dynamo hub.

Egg white, spinach and pesto breakfast bowl from the Protein Bar. Really enjoying this healthier restaurant in the neighborhood. Sent from my nerd phone using Tapatalk

That is an awesome pic, I hope to actually get to see that bike some day.

Really was a great ride at a pretty good pace. I set 77 PRs this trip. Chris went and put on heavier wheels since we last rode and has mad cow disease or something and I still could not keep up with him.

That was quick Dusty. Is it still in my neighborhood? Sent from my nerd phone using Tapatalk

Rock Creek Park in MD/DC I believe.

Justin, you can crash at my house. I have one extra bedroom that hasn't been given away to the hobbies.

Juan and I just finished our 28 mile Maryland/DC ride. Awesome ride. You travel team guys need to make it up here for this ride.
-
That is quite possible. What time do you plan to ride?
-
Yeah I am wishing I had driven down for the ride Chris. Hip seems to be fine now so I am hoping the shift on the seat was enough to keep it from coming back. I really need to get a good ride in as I am far from cycling shape at this point.

The 20 miles looks fun, the 100 in 110+ degree Florida looks outrageously terrible. I went on my first bike grocery run to the farmers market and picked up a cheap Giro helmet for the commute bike.
-
Yeah, thinking I need to do some setup testing on the commute bike today. Slid the seat a bit forward as I think it is high enough. It was set back pretty far and this one has a longer top tube than my road bikes. I am liking the Brooks Cambium saddle so far. Fairly comfortable and not much slipping around on pedaling which was my concern as it did not seem to be very grippy. I came really close to buying some shimano tennis shoes with SPD cleats built in as I feel weird not being clipped in but that would get me back to the point where I would be better off commuting with one of my real bikes as I will still need to change shoes. I wonder if I could get Alden to make me some shoes with recessed SPD cleats.

I have a session with the trainer this afternoon and a pretty sore left hip so I think I am going to avoid a long ride today.
