  1. Cool, that worked... thanks. 11/20/2010 for me... odd, we bought on launch day as well. meh, it's cool. I'm happy with the 3GS and this means that our contact will be up next summer when the newer betterer iPhone 4G with 3D cameras comes out.
  2. Sad: cancelled CanJam reservations... not gonna make it. Good: Walked through the new house today to check that seller made all the repairs they promised... yes they did. Got a letter from closing attorney indicating that closing costs are going to be a little less than expected so that's awesome. Had a great presentation at work today and my new boss actually acknowledged the hard work I had put into a 3 month long project. So that's nice, old boss appreciated that stuff but praise was..... slim, very slim and never public. home loan went through all lights are go, a lost rent check was found, I drove around in my new truck, had a milkshake, listened to cool 80's tunes on the broken radio Overall good things happened while I was away from my daughter... that hasn't happened in awhile. Home has been a haven recently and it's nice to get some good away from home. Oh yeah.... found my lost robe and wizard hat. Put them on.
  3. 2.87 GB left on my 32GB iPad... A lot of that is a season of Ghost in the Shell that is slowly working its way off as I watch it. Most of the time I have about 11-14GB on it with music, vids, apps and sundry. Yeah yeah, I know I know..... originally I said a 16GB iPad... but in the heat of the moment...etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnIZfn6XKF4 To be fair... Nate is a rather striking fellow.
  4. Where do you go to see that information.... I can see upgrade options links in my account, but it doesn't give me any dates.
  5. Happy Birthday, hope it's a great day!
  6. Got shivers just reading this. Ugh. Glad she's OK though!
  7. Happy Birthday Shelly!
  8. They don't make it easy to get in there... I've done the same with my iMac. Mac minis are a little better, but not by much.
  9. When the iPad came out he only had the iPhone version and a new iPad version. He wanted to make it a free upgrade for people who already owned the iPhone version. But he also wanted to be there right out of the gate. Hence two versions. One was iPhone only and the other was optimized for the iPad. See here: iTeleport | Upgrade
  10. glad to hear all is well laxx. me, today, I got a truck... hand me down 1993 Toyota pickup (I'm sure truck people will have something to say about that). Now, for tomorrow.... get better at that pesky 1st gear thing... 34 years old... can't drive stick... you can laugh now.
  11. Little known fact: chewing biscuits provides a natural scrubbing effect on teeth... true fact.
  12. I just might do that this weekend. OK, cinnamon butter sounds pretty damn good. Haven't had that on biscuits.
  13. I beg to differ... the best biscuits ever come from Sunrise Biscuit kitchen in Chapel Hill, NC. Heck those biscuits don't even have gravy on them?!?!?!? Today... I continued cleaning up a bunch of work that was supposed to be finished, tested and documented 8 months ago.... it is none of those things. Tomorrow.... same damn thing. On a good note... today I had a very tasty burger for lunch!
  14. I think I know what my first "home improvement" will be in the new house.
  15. Cowboy Junkies-Renmin Park New junkies album available as a download of FLAC, MP3 or ALAC from their site.
  16. I've been using a Drobo (with WD green drives) for that very function for a year without issue. I have 4 X 1tb drives though. But prices on 2tb drives have come down a lot recently and it may be time to start swapping them out one by one.
  17. Timbuk2 Bags - 2way - Ballistic Fabric They've got something for that.... sucks that it's an add on... but available. I have an older version of this that I use with my current iPhone. It fits, but getting the flap to fit over the headphone jack with phones plugged in is awkward. It was originally designed for the original iPods... with the headphone jack in the top middle. Still, it does the job.
  18. Thanks folks! Yeah, I was pretty bummed when my uncle took it a few years back when we moved my grandfather out of his house. At least it stayed in the family. Life has changed for him though and now I can get it. I don't think he really used (or appreciated) it. I will use it. I've been wanting to get into more woodworking. I will soon have the space to do that... and the bench!
  19. Went to the community picnic for our soon to be new neighborhood... nice folks.. we're gonna like it there. Also found out that I'm going to get my grandfather's old workbench. So that's cool. Now I need to find a way to get a 3 foot high, 3 foot deep, 6 foot long built like a brick shithouse workbench from Jersey to NC. It was built by my great grandfather. I've already got his toolbox and hand made tools, so this will be a nice addition. Not only that, but I will soon have an actual place to put it.
  20. I keep configuring the same bag at Timbuk2: Not sure if I want to pull the trigger on it though. The other bags mentioned look nice, but I need something that can carry the iPad, a thermos for coffee, lunch, gym clothes and any other odds and ends I might have on any given day. I've got a backpack, but frankly it doesn't cut it for access on the go. Still waiting to pull the trigger. I'd be curious to hear how you like you're bag shelly.
  21. I think photobucket has an app where you can load photos directly from an i device. Probably there are apps for picasa and flickr as well.
  22. I have used Evernote, but I use it a lot less now. Might cancel my account, but we'll see. I tend to use Evernote for things I want to remember long term and I use Instapaper Pro for articles I want to read right now. I haven't tried to reconcile the two. Instapaper has an archive and folder structure, but I haven't used it much yet.
  23. Two of my favorite and most used apps right now are Instapaper and Simplenote. Instapaper Pro is great for grabbing articles via Google reader or their bookmarklet for later reading. Gets the ads out of the way and gives you full text... very nice. Simplenote is a killer note app that can sync with Notational Velocity on the Mac... great combo... now I just take notes on either and they are always in sync across all devices.... iPad, iPhone and desktops.
  24. None that I'm aware of, but I don't use it on a windows machine.... my wife did, and was not fond of the web portal aspect of MobileMe. Now we just use it through our iPhones. That works better for her anyway since they monitor her web use at work. Me, I work at at Univ. and if they do monitor, they don't say anything.... not that I'm anywhere I shouldn't be.... but yeah. We renewed this year, but if I don't get off my ass and use it more this year, then I'm going to think long and hard about renewing next year.
  25. Just renewed MobileMe for another year and got this email.... Yep.
