No I don't own a STAX setup currently. I'm trolling eBay for a Lambda pro setup....although, the electret cans look ugly enough to love as well. OH YEAH, on topic: I've heard the HF-1 and they're good, but I just don't understand the hype...I guess it's the whole limited edition thing...it's all very amusing. I wonder if I could sell more amps by coming out with a limited edition M^3...now with 50% more cube!!!! (so would that be an M^4.5?)

He was my friend's uncle and he used to take us out everynow and then on summer days. My parents never let me get a bike, my wife will protest greatly...but someday.

It isn't a big hobby but every now and then I pick up some version of the Milenium Falcon...usually a miniature or the like, micro machine, die cast. Someday when I get back into building models I'm pick up on of the AMT Ertl model kits for the millenium falcon. I also like collecting puzzle boxes (boxes with a secret way of opening them...generally made out of wood).

Interesting article. I recently attended the University of Maryland in College Park. The music library has the largest collection of piano rolls. They have a number fo them digitized (if not all) and two very fine player pianos. The curator cued up Rachmaninov playing the "Flight of the Bumblebee" for us one day. Yep and now my K701s are gone...I do like them, but I just can't justify them when I have the K1000 and the W100. those two are just better cans for me right now. Now to start saving for a pair of R10s

I'm currently running the K701s balanced and I like them (it's only been 2 weeks though so we'll see). Overall I agree with what most people say about them: good tonal balance; nice mids...etc. The K701 vs. the K1000...no contest, the K1000 wins. For me the K701 is just a fun headphone. I've really enjoyed listening to it so far. I'm not sure I would make it my reference can, but it's fun. I heard the K1000 out of Hirsch's Wheatfield and man, what a great combo. Great drum reproduction (I think he played a Grateful Dead drum solo thingy...I can't remember).

Well, normally I like to reserve comments like this until after at least a month of listening. But I think the K701 balanced is impressive. At least so far (2 days).

Did anyone else feel that Crash wasn't really the best film of 2005. I thought that at least one of the other 4 were better than Crash. Oh well, at least Philip Seymour Hoffman won an Oscar for Capote...he was brilliant.....IMHO of course

Personally i like the bass presentation on the R10s as well. Although, I'm finding that the K1000 with the right amplification can provide all the bass quantity/quality/punchiness that I want. Overall, I'd say that the best overall package for me is the R10 though. sigh...someday \

The amp is an M3 that I made and was auctioned off on Head-Fi during the Hurricane Katrina fundraisers. It is being powered by a STEPS. bozebuttons was the winner of that particular auction.

I did enjoy it a great deal....I actually fell asleep toward the end....LOL I like the balance between the electronic aspect and the industrial aspect.
