Pshhh, let's wait to see if anyone orders first I'm hoping to get all ten orders filled so I can take a picture of 40 fully populated Beta 22 boards on my work bench. -

Well each one channel board for Beta 22 costs about $100-125 to build, you'll need four for balanced One PS costs about $125-135 to build, you need at least one Stepped attenuators cost about $200-400 depending on what you get and whether you go with one 4-ganged or two-stereo SA. Then there's cases and here's where it gets tough to calculate. For a balanced amp you'll want two cases, one for the amp and one for the PS, figure on $200-400 depending on how nice you want the cases to be. Then misc parts, jacks, wire, switches, ..etc, figure $100+ depeding on how crazy you get. So grand total: $1025 minimum in parts, then tack on the builder's fee to that. If you had me build it (just as an example), I would charge ~$1500 for a bare-bones, no frills or added outputs/inputs/loopouts amp. I've been told by a few people that I should charge more, but the DIYFS market is quite fickle. People know how much this stuff costs and they tend to not value the time and effort it takes to make these amps. This particular amp can take a significant amount of time to build especially if you go balanced; there's a lot of internal wiring that needs to be taken care of. I hope that helps.

A 12-channel beta...hmmmm,

don't know for sure....but that's around the cusp there....I think the guy said the 2,000-4,000 range or so, but it was awhile ago and he only told me over the phone and he wasn't entirely sure what the range was. Nor was he willing to get something concrete to me.

Happy Birthday Dude!

I would second the M3 as well....although both have their strangths. I think for what you are looking for, the M3 would be the better bet.

My vinyl source sounds better then my digital source

Thanks...I like it a lot too. I wish our floors weren't so soft here at the house.....vibration control is a real issue. So I only listen when i'm home alone and late at night when the dog is not bounding around. But yeah...it's a sweet setup for the money. -

I too am very happy with my Rega P1/Bottlehead Seduction viynl setup....now to get a balanced phono stage.....any suggestions. Glad to hear you're happy with your viynl rig -
Yes, that's fine. I like Radioshack's compressed air cans the best....they tend to have higher preasure over a longer period of use per can. This is compared to some canned air I've used from Staples and Office Depot. I like Radioshack's the best.

I've received e-mails like that before too. Anything that tells you you need to log in and confirm information is suspect. PS.....I made somebody's sig! Sweet. thank you Catholic School Girls' titties!

I'm using Goldpoint SA taken from other projects long gone. The estimated parts cost is about $1200-1500ish, I'm not sure I haven't been keeping track on this particular project, plus some of it is stuff I had on hand. Reterminating the D5000 was cake...but I think I'm going to get some Mogami cable and recable them too. Apparently it's pretty good cable....
-
Oh no don't do that....it sounds like ass...really, complete crap. IN BIZZARO WORLD!
-
Nice recable. I prefer the 4-pin XLR...it's far more efficient and since I build my own amps I'd rather have that. I have a 4-pin to dual 3-pin xlr adapter cable so I can use my 4-pin xlr headphones at meets. I also have a 4-pin xlr to 1/8-1/4 adapter so I can use them single-ended as well. Since I spend more time at home than at meets the adapters work out just fine.

Not sure yet if it's better or significant ly better than SE. I really haven't had a lot of time with it this week....mostly burn in time and amp tweaking time. I'll know more in a few weeks.
