Well, just bought another pair of W100....now I'm looking for some L3000 drivers Dusty, your W3000 may have a little brother or sister soon....damnit, why did I sell those? I like the D5000, but it hasn'tbeen cutting lately. Not sure what it is about it, but I'm jonesing for the L3000 sound again.

I'm sure it will be treated with calm, professional consideration accompanied by a civil and enlightened dialog.

If someone wanted to send a balanced pair my way I can let you know immediately on my Balanced Beta 22 (gain of 2, 4 balanced) how the K340 fairs. But I'd be willing to bet that a higher gain (say 6+) would be better for those headphones.

It was selectable...between 2 and 10...so you probably had it on the higher gain setting...so did I since I was driving K1000 from it.

It's tempting to sell my 80GB for the 160GB, but I haven't been it much lately so I can't see how to justify the expense. I think the iPod Touch is actually pretty cool. Once the price comes down and the storage goes up I can see this replacing the nano line or even the classic line entirely. Wi-fi access iPod with big screen and 200GB of storage...yeah I'd go for that.

Yep that's ultimately what I'm working towards for a dynamic rig. F1 clone, Beta 22 as preamp/other dynamic headphone amp and an electrostatic rig of some sort.

I wouldn't go higher than a gain of 4/5 as well. A gain of two in a balanced Beta 22 is not enough to make the K1000 shine. Let's face it folks there are two kinds of dynamic amps for headphones, one that drive the K1000 and is too much for other headphones and one that drives everything but the K1000. If you're ging to do a K1000, do it fucking right and get a Pass or First watt amp or clone. Fucking with all these dynamic amps that can do regular cans and K1000 is bullshit. (PS...been drinking tonight a little, I love you all).

Yes, one PS can drive 4 boards as long as it's used as a headphone amp. If you want to up the output bias then you need another PS.

That's certainly something that can happen and something I'm considering. I'm not 100% on the case in those pictures either. I'm looking into a few other options. The final cases will be the same size though (or very close to it).

huh, I guess it does....hadn't looked at the schematic yet. I did hear one at the MD meet though and thought it sounded pretty good.

I'd be willing to build one if you want it...don't think it'd be much of a portable amp at that point though. but it isn't something I'm going to advertise as a regular build.

I've got one of these about half built as well....gah and I'm waiting to get an OPUS Dac too, too many projects.
