  1. ARRR, ARRR, ARRRRRRRRRR! MOAR POW3RZ!
  2. I want both, hey you could use the 22 as a preamp to the 24
  3. So's yer MOM!
  4. iPod Touch, Airport Express, and Signal webapp. Can you guess what they're for? PS this was typed on the iPod
  5. Yeah that's true.... with an iPod you'll get more headroom than say a dedicated CD player or a DAC like the one in the Pico.
  6. I have a portable amp set to unity gain (not a Pico) and I only get to 9:00 (starting at 7:00) for most things with my E500. IEMs are more sensative than full sized cans and you're not going to get that far along the pot swipe with any portable amp without an impedance adapter.
  7. I like the idea of the Duet, the base station is discrete and plain....just hook it up and don't worry about it. I think that the remote is the issue. If you're going to make it the main screen then the screen needs to be bigger. An iPod Touch-like remote would be killer...perhaps a little bigger... doesn't need to be small, just not cumbersome on your lap or in your hand. Then you could place the base stations throughout your house and just select which one you're controlling from the remote.
  8. Nigel Tufnel: It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black.
  9. i miss snow
  10. yep, it's pretty easy...don't even need an iron really, just pliers and your forearms. If I built it I'd be happy to change the gain for free. PM me and I'll get you my address.
  11. Go crazy?
  12. Mute switch? I don't recall ever using a mute switch...perhaps that's a switch to switch from headphone out to preamp out on the back. It would make more sense that there was a preamp out on the back with that switch.
  13. Yep, this is pushing the issue of wireless... with 802.11n and more and more hotspots and now a compelling wireless router and 1TB backup/storage drive with the Time Capsule, the Macbook air makes sense....great little laptop if you generally use a desktop and need something for the road...plus, there's the Back to My Mac aspect of Leopard so you can access your desktop files/computer remotely. Pretty slick. Expensive for a portable like that, but slick. Time Capsule is definitely compelling and at a good price too. That's what I'm most excited about at least.
  14. Yep snow tires are the way to go, or at the very least all-season radials. I always found it funny living in MD during snow. All these people spinning out and stuck on the roads...people in SUVs! There I was with my little Chevy Celebrity Station wagon, scooting by them... big cars and 4WD aren't a cure for not knowing how to drive in the snow. Even snow tires don't cure everything...they're just a tool to help. We never got as much snow as NH in CT growing up, but we got enough to teach you how to drive it in properly. My driving test was 3 days after a huge snowfall, I'll never forget. Who would have though that a driving instructor would have to tell a teenager that it's ok to drive a little faster!
  15. Charts/Graphs or it never happened.
  16. Artist: Belle & Sebastian Album: If You're Feeling Sinister Song: "If You're Feeling Sinister" Lyric: "But if you are feeling sinister/Go off and see a minister/He'll try in vain to take away the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever/La la la la la la la"
  17. Yes, as long as there's room in the case and it's not using a gain switch. If it is using a gain switch, you may have to give up that function for the bass boost. A lot of people either use the bass boost circuit for a gain switch or for the bass boost, but you can't do both with the traces on the board.
  18. Pics or it never happened!?
  19. Chuck Norris has his own mannequin?!?!
  20. Yes I like all those things. I have not worn the color orange since I can't really pull it off, which is unfortunate. Perhaps someday. Ahh I see.
  21. Not recently, why? Does that have something to do with them? I just like Orange!

    fucking crap

When I was in grad school my car was broken into (driver window smashed) and the radio, some CDs, and my flute and clarinet were stolen (they were quite nice too even if they weren't my main instrument). So I walk out of the Music building in Greensboro, walk to my car down the street (nice residential area too, not some shithole) and notice that my car was broken into and stuff was stolen. The kicker....there was a cop not 50 yards away on the adjacent street minding their little speed trap for that section of town. So, since it was 12:00am and the music building was closed (hence, no phone, I didn't own a cell at the time) I walk to the police car and explain what I just found. he told me to go to the music building and call 911! WTF, you are the police! I explained that the building was closed and I couldn't get in and he told me to call in the morning. I kindly explained that I would like him to radio an officer to come out and write a report since I need something for the insurance company and I wanted to mention the $2000 worth of instruments that I lost (could have cared less about the radio and the CDs). Nope, call in the morning, someone will come out. FUCK ME. So i drive home pissed and garbage bag up the window and vacuum out the broken glass and call GEICO, my insurance. GEICO came out to the car while I was at school the next day with an adjustor and a window replacement guy...they came out at 10:00am! i called the cops that morning and they couldn't spare anyone until 3:00pm that day and she was late and didn't come until 4:30ish. Then she gave me shit for cleaning the car and replacing the window...at which point I explained how her colleague wouldn't help me last night and how my insurance company seemed more concerned about getting things taken care of than the cops. I took her badge number and found out about the officer the night before and filed a complaint. Fortunately my insurance company was able to replace the window, radio, money for the CDs and money for a new clarinet and flute. The deductible was pretty small if I remember.
