  1. Do you like how this album sounds on Mantra? I find that mantra did not do a good job transferring this staff to CD, not compressed or anything just very dark sounding seems like the tapes were not first generation. I like 97 Rep CD much better, it has a bit of a top end boost and is a bit louder but it sounds very detailed and clear to me. I also noticed that although Eroc does a great job remastering stuff he tends to bring the loudness level up a lot, something I don't like that much. Guru Guru Mani und seine Freunde is a good example of this, Germanofon bootleg CD ripped from LP was dakr and muddy, but Eroc's remaster is very loud althoght very good sounding in tearms of details. He does not commpress a lot by they way, just brings over all sound level up. N.P. Niagara - Afire (1973)
  2. My favorite Ghost album is Snuffbox Immanence What can I say I like their folk side more. N.P. Nazareth - Hair of the Dog (1975)
  3. There is a lot of new stoner guys who for this category, The Atomic Bitchwax for example, but if you want to go to the roots try these guys: High Tide - Sea Shanties (1969) Psych hard rock with violins and Hawkwind vibe. Also try Hawkwind if you did not yet. Early Guru Guru are freak out psych rock, Lucifer's Friend falls into Psych hard rock category and has John Lawton on vox.
  4. Why are you surprised? It's a nice album but nothing special and very derivative of what was done in the 70's. Still good if you like that kind of stuff.
  5. I have been digging into Peter Frohmader / Nekropolis discography a bit deeper and for fans of modern dark electronics this should be very interesting as he was way ahead of the Dark Ambient and similar movements. This stuff is not really Kraut, but more of what I like to call Neo-kraut as it falls at the very end of the 1970's and beginning of the 1980's. Recommended albums are: Nekropolis - Musik aus dem Schattenreich (1981) Nekropolis - Nekropolis 2 (1982) Nekropolis - Cultes des Ghoules (1985) These are also not bad but do not seem as interesting as his early stuff: Nekropolis - Live (1983) Peter Frohmader - Richard Pinhas - Fossil Culture (1999) I would love to hear these but I cannot find them anywhere: Peter Frohmader - Homunculus Vol. 1 Peter Frohmader - Homunculus Vol. 2
  6. Jan Dukes de Grey - Mice and Rats in the Loft (1971)
  7. Ananta - Inside My Room, Watching the Rain (2007) I Sit and Listen While My Mind Is Wandering - 250:37 minutes This thing is soooooo long and seems to be boring so far. Apparently this is the longest single song as per RYM I am 20 minutes into this, I bet I will get tired in about 10-15 minutes.
  8. I still need to add a log of my stuff but I am about 80% done with CD. LPs I just started yet and digital I don't even want to bother with What is your handle there? N.P. Heretic - 1984-88 (1994)
  9. Yeah man, and Phil Minton I figured I am not going back to sleep at 6 am, so I might as well wake up.
  10. I do not even bother with their forums as the are crap. Cataloging stuff there is my main interest, and as I said above some of the lists are really interesting.
  11. Not really that good for discovering new bands. In a way it can be a good site to discover new music directions by looking up an album that you like and checking if it is on any of the lists that people put together. I found a few really interesting French bands and movements this way. But primarily it is a good site to keep track of you CD/LPs, keep a wishlist and organize your collection.
  12. Woke up early and could not get to sleep so I listing to this stuff on Stax SR-001 Phil Minton - A Doughnut in One Hand - 1998 Carcass - Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious (1991)
  13. Hans Reichel & Eroc - The Return of Onkel Boskopp (1986)
  14. They can't because they think the amp might have an issue as well and if they fix the phones and the amp is still bad you will send it all back to them. So I understand them. They don't know you are using Stax amp
  15. Doctor Feelgood - Something To Take Up Time (1971) I am at a loss, why is this band completely unknown?!? This is very good progressive with strange effects, flute, sax and off beat arrangements. I am really enjoying this as I am not sure this really reminds me of anything and sounds very fresh. I hear just a tiny bit of British folk bands and Jethro Tull. If you like prod, blues and cool music get this.
  16. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside 1978
  17. Guru Guru - Mani und seine Freunde (1975)
  18. Yeah, Boris Vian was a good Jazz musician as well as a great writer. If you look around you can find this entire album on line.
  19. Early electronics somewhat in Cluster meets Jean-Michel Jarre territory.
  20. Patrick Vian - Bruits et temps analogues (1976)
  21. [url=http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/kanguru]K
  22. Skeleton Crew - Learn to Talk / The Country of Blinds (1990) Reissue of two classic aggressive RIO albums from 1982 and 84 by Skeleton Crew (Fred Frith, Tom Cora and Zeena Parkins). Awesome stuff, really fucking great music.
  23. Nekropolis - Cultes des Ghoules (1985) Al Di Meola - Land of the Midnight Sun (1976)
  24. Yeah, transmission line desktop speakers
  25. The Soft Machine - BBC Radio 1971-1974 (2003) The Soft Machine - BBC Radio 1967-1971 (2003) This will last me for the rest of the day.
