  1. I would double check with the seller to make sure it's ESD 1991 CD. Sometimes they list them under wrong edition, in this case you can always return it and get your money back but it's a pain. I usually check with the seller before hand to avoid any possible confusion. I found Amazon to be a good place to pick up nice old edtitions of stuff for cheap as at times people do not realize that what they are selling is rare. Hope you like this different version, if not you still get a cool bonus track.
  2. SQ is even not the point here, it's a completely different mix, by Tim Hodgkinson, from the master tapes. Some hated, I like it somewhat. It sounds different from the original record and new issues that follow the original mix of this album.
  3. OMFG!?!!11? LOLz, Dawg! Wa happed to 2 dark fake leathery crap thang? Or did u finally turnz off that Rihana Umbrella (remix) and put on some for realZ muZic?
  4. Silver Apples - Contact (1969) Listening to original LP that I got at some garage sale for a $1 Condition is so so, but not that bad.
  5. If you have one of the new CDs (2000) you have the original mix. If you have one of the 1991 ESD CDs you have the remix. The old 91 ESD CDs are harder to find now, than the new RER and ESD original mixes. If you are curious about the 91 remix, you can get it now used at Amazon for a good price. There is only one copy there and the price is normal, unlike $30-60 I have seen some time ago. The remix version had a cool bonus track, "Lovers of Gold", from the same sesions.
  6. What version are you listening to, original or remixed?
  7. David Torn - Door X (1990) David Torn: guitars, hypnodrones, keyboards, organ, bass, vocal Mick Karn: bass, percussion, bass clarinet Bill Bruford: drums, percussion Antony Widoff: piano, keys, drums, percussion, clarinet, trumpet Doug Lunn: bass Kurt Wortman: percussion Geoffrey Gordon: drums, percussion Gary Burke: drums Kurt Wortman: snares, pot drum, shakers Vida Vierra: vocal Chris Botti: trumpet, hypnodrone Rock oriented album with a bit of jazz flavorings thrown in here and there. Instrumental parts are awesome, but a few songs with vocals are a distraction to me. What we got here is lots of Torn's adventurous guitar playing and a little bit of Bruford and Karn, as well as a lot of other superb musicians helping out. Sound quality and production are good, not as good as on his ECM and CMP albums. All Torn albums should be purely instrumental if you ask me, or with digitally treated distorted vocals ala "What Means Solid, Traveller ?".
  8. Look at that.... I thought it was an acronyms of some sorts...
  9. I wish my grandfather looked like that. All that lightning behind him probably influenced you preference for electrostatics.
  10. Hans Reichel & Eroc - Kino (1986) Original KINO LP album from 1987 on 180 grams pressing (DMM Mastering) and signed by Eroc from his personal stash of a few remaining records. In the mail at the moment. Hans Reichel - Yuxo - A New Daxophone Operetta (2002) Harmonia - Deluxe (1975) Polydor K.K.German Rock series CD, pink OBI is missing but all else is intact $5 at a used CD store Michel Waisvisz - In Tune (2005) Interesting compilation of tracks from Crackle and some live in studio recordings from 80's, 90's and 00's. Got this one in brand new condition for $2 in the same store.
  11. Any news on YH-100? Anyone did anything special to their set?

  15. "Nine Feet Underground" is amazing, one of the best things Caravan ever recorded.
  16. Jethro Tull - Aqualung (1971) 1984 VK 41044 CD issue on Crysalis, sounds very nice.
  17. GURU GURU - Globetrotter
  18. LASK - Lask (1982) LASK - Lask 2: Sucht + Ordnung (1984) Both on original ECM vinyl, got them cheap from a mail order shop in Amsterdam. These will never get reissued on CD
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. The Afrika Korps - Music to Kill By (1977) Old school DC punk band that paved way for DIY hardcore punk, interesting from historic point of view. Long out of print LP released on CD with a ton of bonus tracks. Sounds like punk should: gritty, nasty, low-fi and with a sense of humor, but with a strange psych vibe. If you like early punk like Ramones and The Dictators try these guys.
  21. Thank you! Спасибо друзья!
  22. Jean-Paul Prat - Masal (1984)
  23. Tristan Honsinger, Steve Beresford, Toshinori Kondo and David Toop - Imitation of Life / Double Indemnity (1980/1982)
  24. I heard some Frumpy – "2" samples and like how this album sounds. It just came out in 2009. This album was very hard to find before for a normal price. I am very happy that a lot of these records are being reissued, and reissued on widely distributed label. Used in Amazon seems to be the best place to buy. No need to buy Germanofon CDs and hope that this time they do a nice vinyl rip or actually have master tapes. The thing with Germanofon is that at times they did a good job and sometimes they just fucked up badly. Eroc's albums and Xhol Caravan they butchered, Guru Guru and Thirsty Moon sound very nice. I need to get Electric Sandwich reissues on SPV and Rec to see how that sounds compared to my Germanofon CD. N.P. Pascal Comelade - September Song (with Robert Wyatt) (2000)
  25. Well I would say that some of his early re-masters were bad, not all. He did a good job with a lot of them and overall I find that he tends to master in a way that brings the resolution up, but does not kill the air. The thing is that some people like very warm sound with a bit of dirt on it, this makes recording sound very analog. I tend to like recording like that less since you loose some of the resolution and have a more midrangy sound. Some of the old LPs were inherently limited in the dynamic and resolution extremes because they were transferred from tapes with this in mind. Now what Eroc seems to do it transfer in a way there he pulls every bit of detail of these tapes, sounds different from the LP yes, but I bet more like the original tape. But let us stop the off-topic, or maybe we should have a mastering thread to talk about this fun stuff Niagara CD was good, I am now listening to: Potemkine - Nicolas II - 1978
