Speaker cable with small/skinny spade plugs?
Grand Enigma replied to Salt Peanuts's topic in Speakers
Just go to Radio Shack and pick up the variety pack of crimp on spades. Should cost a few bucks at most and work just fine. Could even crimp them to the current ends of the cables you have now that don't fit. -
meetings meetings and more meetings.. then home by 1pm

The Blue Ant Z9i or Z9 is a great headset. Very small, light and comfortable. I would highly recommend it. http://www.myblueant.com/z9i_black_headset.htm

Sadly I can't make the claim on that technology... Mr iPod Devildock was the inventor. All I can take credit for is the Pixiedock and the MUPPETdock -

Faster than other mini-star quad? Does it utilize MFET technology? Mass Flow of Electrons Transferring? -

I've told people like McShaggy that Redco is good. You might also find Redco to be good. -
Just get a step up or a TVC with a bit of gain
-
hmmm someone appears to be strolling down the same path I have. The Promitheus TVC is a great preamp as long as you get enough gain from your source and amp. Are you looking for a preamp that doubles as a headphone amp or will just a preamp do? I have gone back and forth with that many times in my rig.

Well if we are being technical you need 2 for one step up but no I have other ambitions

More Altec Peerless 4722 step up transformers
-
I have completely eliminated a need for a separate preamp. My phono stage has a gain control and I use a stepup to up the gain a bit more. For a digital source I feed my iAudio 7 directly to my power amp and just use the volume on the dap to control gain. Nice, simple, and clean setup. Lovin it.

Yup they used S&B.... they are supposedly working on a new a better one which will likely be easily $1,000+ The K&K transformer is nice and a simple kit to build. The Cinemags I would agree do have a better overall sound. The K&K sounds a bit congested and harsh compared to the Cinemags. The Altec Peerless are very good but you really are paying a lot for the vintage... unless you happen to buy a mixer that has 4 of them in it for $75 I personally have used/built K&K stepups, Cinemag and currently use an Altec Peerless one I built. The Cinemag is very nice and can be built for around $175 or so. With the Altec transformers you are looking at a cool $400 or so just for the transformers if you can find them online.

apparently I pay for the privileged of living in NJ. Yes, SD DVD is standard def... old school DVD.

That's not entirely true... they will still be producing and selling plasma displays, Matsushita will be supplying the glass for the sets while Pioneer will still be doing everything else. They are looking to cut production costs so they can bring LCD onboard. Word is Pioneer will be sharing their glass secrets with Matsushita. So while there will be some changes, perhaps for the better or worse, Pioneer will continue to produce plasma displays.

The soon to be released Oppo 983 is supposed to be as good as it gets for SD DVD play back. It uses processors and scalers from ABT only found it gear costing thousands. While it isnt cheap for a SD DVD player at $399 you really will not do much better. Another option would be to pick up something like the Samsung BD-P1200 Blu ray player which can be found rather cheaply. It does a good job with Blu ray but does an even better with SD DVD as it utilizes the HQV Reon processor which is quite nice. Would make for a nice do all machine.

I hate you... my rent is more than yours... place is in the middle of no where... I have to pay utilities no gym/pool/nothing! The building management is a lady that lives in one of the apartments and "works" two days a week for 4hrs. As for TVs. Do you do a lot of gaming? watch a lot of standard def or non wide screen stuff? If you answer yes than an LCD would likely be your best bet. The Samsung LED LCD and the Sony XBR4 are some of the better LCDs currently. Plasmas have some of the best pictures especially the Pioneer Kuro's but they are a bit prone to IR and Burn in if you a lot of the questions from above. Most TVs now days come with a few HDMI inputs, digital outputs, many have PC inputs and such as well. The question usually is how many of each do you want not really does it have it or not. on a side note the Pioneer Kuro has some of the best video processing/scaling out there and can accept any input (480,720,1080) and scale accordingly if desired. You are also able to force native resolution for non widescreen programing if you wish.

Ah yes "Great skill in memory world!" ... I love the packaging of that stuff. It is however very good memory.
