  1. I've saw the new Santos once. It's a nice looking watch. The place only had the white dial, so I have yet to see the blue. I wasn't a fan of the ceramic gmt until they brought back the jubilee. I know most prefer the oyster, but the gmt on that is too close to the sub for me. The new super jubilee has a really nice feel compared to the old one imo.
  2. I agree I'm tempted to wait out the Rolex bubble.. but I do really like the new Batman and the skydweller. Fuck could have gotten a blue dial 5711 for 20k when I bought my dssd. I'd say the watch bubble is more akin to Bitcoin.
  3. As far as I know only vintage speedys. And even most of those are very affordable.
  4. That's nothing compared to the price of many vintage subs, Daytona's or pateks. In some cases pennies on the dollar wouldn't be going far enough.
  5. The whole concept of luxury tool watches is an oxymoron IMO. I don't love them any less. Your not likely to use your chronograph to calculate the speed of a car across a marked mile. Hell I took my dssd diving, it didn't make me less annoyed by it's height. Just because you won't use it for it's designed function doesn't mean you should write off an entire category of watches. You maybe struck by something you were not expecting.
  6. Yes the Daytona uses screw in pushers, but there is no value in buying Daytona's. All trade for premium even older models. A two tone with a zenith movement would likely be your cheapest entry point. However your not going to find that in anything other than broken and beat to hell condition for less than 9k US.
  7. Speedys are nice, just be aware that most are 50m water resistance. It's splash proof for sure but nothing more than that. If this is a collection of one that should be noted.
  8. Yea pelagos is a good option. I think they do both the black and blue in titanium. IDK what grade of titanium they use though. They also use ceramics in some models, bronze and PVD coated steel. Edit :: oh, and the dssd aside Tudor has better clasps. And other than Rolex models with the updated movements, Tudor has better movements. It's quite frustrating. No way I would buy a sub until Rolex gets off it's ass.
  9. They make about as many watches a year as Rolex but there is a lot of market to market variation in demand. One of my favorite watches from them is not popular at all in the USA but is very popular in Asia. What ever you do end up buying just make sure it's because you love the watch not because of a deal. No matter the price any watch is waste of money if it's not the one you truly want. Also if you want the best price out up of a dealer, at least in my country never talk price or discounts unless you are ready to buy at that moment. If they go down to what you ask and you don't buy, good luck in the future. If you're clear you're just browsing and still trying to make your mind up or continue to save they should be more than accommodating and jump at the opportunity to give you info and let you try things on. Also all these dealers typically know each other and talk between themselves.
  10. Omega dealers tend to be very accommodating. I got a free pin bar tool, pin bars, one of those nice trays they put the watch on when they pull it from the case, pens, etc. I can't really compare them to my local Rolex AD in that regard because I've bought 4 Omegas, but I have never bought a Rolex from my local AD because they never discount much and now not at all. Next time that will change because grey market Rolex is now higher than retail.. if they ever call me back about the new Batman or the skydweller I'm on the list for.
  11. For a pint of reference my Omega dealer gives me 25% off new high demand watches, like my 2018 seamaster professional that I got from the first shipment he received after release. Then 33 to 40% on older or hard to sell watches. Both the ones I suggested fail into the later category.
  12. They are close in harness, SS and grade 5 titanium. It is very important to note that these watches and bracelets are grade 5 which is significantly harder than the more common and easily worked grade 2. For instance you can't polish grade 2 because it's so soft. But if you don't want the bracelet I know from the factory you can get the diver 300 on a strap. You can probably get the aqua terra on a strap too but I haven't seen it that way. Omega also has an enormous selection of factory straps, NATO, rubber, leather.. It's also cheaper if you opt not to get the bracelet, but the bracelet would help resale even if you don't use it.
  13. If I couldn't wear steel this is what I would get All titanium and being Omega you should be able to get a good discount. Edit: the aqua Terra is also available in titanium.
  14. Then it is settled Rossliew. With your steel allergy you must get a solid gold Rolex! No wait on those... The deep sea has a titanium case back, you could get one of those and put it on a leather strap. The deep sea is tall though, I got rid of mine for that reason.
  15. From late last year 12/2018, in the Caribbean and Mexico OP 39s in white, black, Rhodium and Red grape were in cases. My local AD hasn't seen one in the last 3 shipments. On the Explorer 2 I saw multiple locations in the Caribbean and Mexico with both dials in stock and in the case. My AD has not seen them in the last 2 shipments. Despite all the rumors Explorer 2s are still in production and listed by Rolex. Same goes with the GV milly....... and the Cellini not that anyone cares. if you want to know what is in production check www.rolex.com if nothing else they keep that up to date.
  16. got a haircut today... right next to the salon is the local Rolex AD. I stopped in for a look in the case. They still had the milly Z blue that came in with the last months shipment, but they had sold the Air King. They got a SS yacht master 2 in their most recent shipment, which was in the case. They also told me that they are regularly getting Subs and Date subs(not hulks) on their shipments now. GMTs, skydwellers, seadwellers, exlporers(both), millys, yacht masters and air kings remain inconsistent. Rumors of rolex increasing output may be accurate.
  17. Hodinkee did a good job covering things as they hit this year. I really hope they can get some leaks from whatever went on behind closed doors in Zurich. My local Omega AD has not let anything slip if info has filtered to those who didn't attend. I tried this on last Friday.. I liked it quite a bit but not enough. My AD wanted to bet me that my friend would buy it. I walk into the operating room on Monday and I hear some one calling my name from down the hall way. It's my buddy saying "guess what I bought". He shows me a pic because he is very strategically not wearing it because he told his wife he wouldn't buy any more watches for a while.. Oh yeah and side note to watch news and social media. I scored the opening wrist shot on watches tonight With Tim on the watch box studios YouTube channel. IDK how many here watch Tim's stuff but I like him. I had previously gotten a shot on with my 2018 seamaster diver 300m and BHSE (tube glow and lume glow) Edit: just left my local Rolex AD and had them put me on the list for the new Batman. I am also on the list for a sky dweller. They had a gv blo milly and an airking in the case. They just sold a TT sub, so maybe supply is getting better and I have a chance of getting one of those watches before 2025.
  18. Best part of Rolex announcements this year is the suggestion from Rolex that we go to our local AD to try on the new sports models..
  19. First time riding the lower trails after the rain melted all the snow. Things have changed drastically this year! Some deep puddles in the first pic, the second is more representative of the current water level.
  20. I was born in Chicago, went though primary education there and college. But once I started working I left. I live in Nevada now. Taxes are a big factor.. property, income tax and sales. Plus mountains. Also my weather is better. I love Chicago. I cannot see a future in which I go back.
  21. I really like the new Apollo 11 limited edition they have more or less reissued. It is however shocking that you can actually get the original in good condition for less than the new one.
  22. mwl168 please add in an additional set of psu boards for me. Also I am up for a set of mini t2 boards to help get the numbers up for that side of the GB
  23. I'm interested
  24. Streams/creeks are full right now from rain and snow. Lots of water crossings. I cant wait until May when everything is dry, many of the trials that I ride are changed significantly due to erosion from the rain/snow and this year I can already see that my favorite trails will be unrecognizable! That creek in this pic is a miles long rock garden.
  25. They just need to make that a deployment rather than a pin buckle and it would be perfect.
