  1. Don't see a huge selection at the local liquor store, what is good? http://www.bcliquorstores.com/product-catalogue?search=Bourbon
  2. The fully loaded Bifrost looks very promising and would make for a modest setup, paired with some powered speakers. Since discovering that my motherboard can do coax output, USB is not so much of a priority any more, seeing as coax input is better, leaving me with more choices such as an older Assemblage. Only issue I see going coax over USB is that laptops generally won't have support for it, but seeing as this is going to be a desktop DAC, it is not a problem.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. I am okay with DACs that don't use USB power, I was just mentioning it as a way of connectivity, what are some better options for connectors? Grawk, Voltron, it's nice to see you too. (:
  4. Yep, but I already got a Pico; feels very redundant. I was hoping there are good dedicated DACs out there that are as good, or better than the Pico.
  5. Hello, need some suggestions for a DAC to use with PC. I realize there are a wide plethora of options listed in the forum, but would like some help narrowing the list down to budget. Currently using the Pico DAC/amp for everything, but was wondering if there is a better option, specifically for desktop use with USB. I've been contemplating upgrading to powered speakers, and STAX, so it's probably time for a source upgrade as well. What options do I got?

I've been playing this quite a bit recently; does anyone else on here play? If you haven't heard of it before, it's a realistic zombie survival simulator that is simple AWESOME! Imagine hopping on vent/skype with a few friends, and spending 1-2 hours to find each other, and then try to survive. You can die by zombies, which are all controlled by AI, other players gunning you down (or you can cooperate with them), or by hunger/thirst/injuries, so it is not just another zombie game where you gun down everything you see. This will give you a good idea of the teamwork/fun involved! Lots of hilarious moments. Or you could encounter bandits, hostile players that aren't so friendly. [media=]
  7. Obligatory 4 years later update: I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, or if anyone is knowledgable about PC audio, but here goes. I am once again in the market for a soundcard for a new PC. The purpose of the card would be to use Dolby Headphone for gaming and watching movies. Are there any good cards out there that can output DTS/Dolby Digital Live through the digital out, and allow me output it to an external DAC? A problem I see with this is that unless I have a headphone amp/DAC that could decode the Dolby signal, it will not work. (I can't just use any old headphone amp/DAC.) Would any cards be able to output the Dolby surround signal directly to the HeadAmp Pico? I think this card can do what I want, and maybe even more: http://www.auzentech...etheater_hd.php Edit: After reading around the web for more info... I think I might just buy the Astro MixAmp and call it a day. I will just neglect SQ when gaming, and use Pico when I want to watch movies. If someone has any good suggestions, please let me know!
  8. Hi Leonardo, thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely go check out their individual works sometime soon. Actually, robm321 I have been listening to The Count of Tuscany a lot these few days. I would reccomend people to listen to that more than A Change of Seasons. I can't put into words as to why I like the song, but it has really grown on me. It might have to do with the lyrics and how it seems to fit very well with the music.
  9. http://www.kickstarter.com/ I love some of the creativity in the Product Design and Food sections! I hope this website flourishes.
  10. I just woke up from an epic action filled dream after falling asleep with this song on loop. Never again will I be sleeping with drum 'n' bass tracks left playing in the background.
  11. Rudewolf: Alright! Sounds like it's going to be a relaxing evening for you. Dream Theater has many different genres so I don't know what to really recommend you, but the song that I first listened to was A Change of Seasons. Good memories, maybe give that a try! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgKHimdfNrY&feature=related
  12. I know that the first thing many people think of when they hear DT is "a bunch of highly skilled berklee profs jamming together" with considerably high technicality, but some of their tracks, not limited to the groundbreaking ones, have a magical quality to it. Maybe it's the combination of good instrumentation and composition, but like everything, YMMV. You guys got a good argument though; it definitely feels a little too technical/cold/soulless at times.
  13. Their new album A Dramatic Turn of Events, with Mangini drumming, sounded real good to me. I feel that Andy Wallace did a good job mixing, because everything shines through the mix! Another favourite track of mine is The Count of Tuscany.Being an aspiring guitarist, it's always a pleasure to listen to Petrucci's fluid solos. What are some of your favourite tracks?
