Best SS-amp Today; Cost NO Object?
aardvark baguette replied to Contrastique's topic in Headphone Amplification
Here is what you do: have a website somewhere that does not have www.head-case.org as the prefix, i.e. www.betta22ampsforeva.com. Link to that page from HF. In that page, place java code (i dont have it in front of me, so I'll make it tomorrow). The java simply tells the browser to go to www. whatever page you specify .org -

All you need to do is link to another page with a java re-direct. I'll try to set something up on my old website at work tomorrow -
Best SS-amp Today; Cost NO Object?

In typical Headfi fashion, I voted, despite not having heard all the options B22 for me. I've yet to read a negative review, and am quite pleased with the sound of mine Its also easily the best amp at the price point I payed ($900 used). Almost unfair towards the competition, really. -
I've only actually heard one; the one in the image. Listening to it now, in fact. That was enough for me to know I should just buy all of them. Whats that saying about a fool and his money? \

The first 2 'sets' of Living Stereo Hybrid SACDs. 20 different albums. And all the pre-order Hoffman SACDs from Acoustic Sounds. god I hope Music Matters follows suite.

Steve Hoffman/Kevin Gray Blue Note Remasters to be Released on SACD!

Some SACD questions/chat, from a high rez noob: 1) Opinions on what are the 'best of breed' SACD players in the $4-7K price range? How are the Esoterics? (This is my loose mental price point at this point; may grow down the line) 2) My understanding is that SACD can not be sent out via optical at ful high rezl bit rate, and that using optical out only sends redbook bitrate info out digitally. I already have a (imo) great DAC in the Bel Canto Dac3. Its got USB, toslink, SPDIF 1, SPDIF 2 and AES/EBU digital inputs. If possible, I'd like to pipe the full bit rate high rez digital info from whatever SACD player/transport to the dac; is this possible yet? -

Luis and I were chatting about this earlier. I nearly shat my pants. Since I dont even have a damn turn table, you can imagine how I'd naturally prefer the digital format Not to mention all the money saved not hiring a studio engineer to transfer vinyl This just pushed me over the edge, in my debate about getting an SACD player. I am going to buy every last one of these mofos, and all the Living Stereo stuff. Perhaps the best news, or at least probability, is that they wont be limited edition. I feel confident Music Matters will do the same. I've grown tired of trying to scramble to get things before they're gone. -
Freaks. Most I've gone is probably a day and a half. Actually, there was a stretch of about 6 months where that was the norm several times a week after graduating from college; you tend to have a lot of downtime if you're a freelance graphic designer Now being full time employed, I welcome sleep with open arms.

HP1000 vs. L3000 (now with head size discussion!)

I've got a question for the group: Which phone is the Audio Technica ATH-AD2000 most similar to: HP2 or L3000? Is it closest to 'fun neutral' like that of the L3000 or 'sterile neutral' of the HP2? I ask because I may sell my Dennon D2000s and replace with these in my office. Or just another pair of HD650s, possibly. I have enough room to where an open design does not really bother others. -

Its comments like this that give me + my wallet comfort -
I know, I know.... That is the one thing that made me mull over it for so long. I almost said 'screw it' and bought a thinkpad. But then I decided I really would appreciate something small on occasion. But I have XP discs ready willing and able in my basement, plus at least in the office, once the system boots up, all it will be doing is playing music all day, and on Foobar. I came to the realization that even with a cruddy processor, it will still be more than enough. Plus I'll be using external hard drives for the tunes too.

well with "estimated tax" it comes to $786.45... ..but they will charge whatever the real tax is at time of shipping. The expected ship date is 5/3/08. They do have cheaper models, but this one just seemed best for me. Fedex shipping was free btw.

Primary usage will be foobar 2k and firefox. And because this is headcase, I actually do need to include the obligatory line... pencil not included
