  1. Pinhole cameras FTW. I made one out of a Double Gulp cup from 711 in college.
  2. I dont have TeamSpeak (refuse to have headphones with mics ), but let me know if you ever play Fear Combat multiplayer. Check out Prison City Games control section. Oh BTW, the multiplayer is 100% free download, legal
  3. Oh, well in that case, she's just a bad apple
  4. Oh, believe me, the nice part of schedules will change. Then again, I'm usually at work at 7AM Glad you like the new job. Maybe the office mate doesnt like Free Jazz in general? When I bring up jazz to people my age, their eyes tend to glaze over like I'm CSpan.
  5. The Ripper (Priest) 2 Minutes 2 Midnight (Maiden) The above illustrates why I prefer Maiden. While neither band even approaches bad, I find Maiden to be a little more cerebral, or 'thinking man's metal' than Priest. I can see why people would prefer Priest for the exact opposite reason, arguing that it makes the song more universal to have a simpler message. But I enjoy the mystical/mythical/fantastic elements to Maiden songs. Its been a long time since I listened to a Priest album, but I cant think of anything of theirs that could compare to something like Alexander The Great, for example. In short, Maiden = Epic. All IMHO
  6. You could probably score a used Bel Canto DAC3 for a similar price Should be less bright, but similar in detail, as far as I can tell from reviews.
  7. Maiden > Priest. But yes he could wail. New Notwist...anyone ever hear anything other than Neon Golden? That seems to be a headcase favorite.
  8. I freaking love Mexican food. Or "Americanized Mexican food" as was pointed out to me many times. I actually had Mexican at a great restaurant near my office, On The Border, over the weekend. I could really go for seconds right about now...
  9. Its in my nature. Not so much cutting, as digging. The Aardvark, (Orycteropus afer) translates to "digging foot". You of course know this, Elphas, as you are one of the closest living relatives to me, along with elephant shrews, sirenians, hyraxes and tenrecs UE case or Quantaray case?
  10. Beautiful speakers.
  11. Whoa Never bought direct from Concord...yet;D I love how everything is gathered up in one place and the bio sections. I've mostly been just doing Amazon searches, and often end up getting OOP stuff from Newburry Comics. They seem to have a bunch of stuff. These are good prices, from the looks of it. I'm gonna have to have me a splurge soon
  12. I'm debating between getting this or a stax OII setup as my next upgrade/addition. Either way, I think I'm going to stop upgrading for a while, and build up a nice savings first. In the past I tended to rush these things, and often had to stretch my budget uncomfortably thin. But if I stay with dynamic headphones, its only a matter of time before I get this amp, provided its still available when I come around looking for it. Given that its hand built by Mr. Millet himself, I seriously doubt my EAR HP4 could even compare to this. The Ear's got less of everything; tubes, transformers, inputs...
  13. An article on Tom's Hardware may help you out: IMPORTANT - Testing Your PSU Rails - EXTREME Overclocking Forums According to the article, using Bios is not reliable. But its at least a start. Example of Bios from the article:
  14. Nice OJC pull, Voltron. The vinyl OJC can be quite $$$ on Amazon. Thank god I'm only going after the CDs
  15. When I'm 64, Your Mother Should Know, I Saw Here Standing There and Maxwell's Silver Hammer are all exceptionally great pop songs imho.
  16. I picked up a Quantaray from Ritz Camera today. Same size as Posty, from the looks of it. Last one in the store, and the only size they had. I've made spots for my HP 2133 mini notebook, as well as 5G iPod and 8GB iPhone. I'm going to add a space for my Headamp Pico, which is at the office over the weekend. I'll be adding space for my new Shure e530s, once I get them. Its going to be a tight squeeze to get all that in, but I think it will work. I can always put the pico in the ipod spot if I have to. The 6 cell battery of the computer made it tricky to mount flush to the foam, and I ended up taking out extra foam in the back to accommodate it. It sticks up a little from the foam surface, so I may put it lower, but it wont be able to lay flat, since I cant take away any more foam where the battery is. I think it'll be fine the way it is. This is really going to simplify packing when traveling. Thanks for the idea, Posty and Jpak
  17. Now I'm confused. I thought the 3G was only for iphone. I know Apple likes to integrate their new stuff into their product line in a trickle down method, but also was under the impression that the ipod touch only gets wifi internet, because there is no service being paid for. So if that remains the case, why would they give away free 3G service to Touch users? I'm sure I've overlooked some detail in typical aardvark sandwich fashion...what is it?
  18. oops, I just re-read my post above. The Horace Silver isnt an OJC, but I got it anyway. Forgot to differentiate that.
  19. He was my favorite. Regardless of his own political opinions, he dished out the real questions to everyone. Nobody got a free pass, just the way it should be.
  20. OJC discs: A World of Piano! - Phineas Newborn Harlem Blues - Phineas Newborn The Great Jazz Piano of Phineas Newborn Jr. - Phineas Newborn Please Send Me Someone to Love - Phineas Newborn Look Out: Phineas Is Back - Phineas Newborn Back Home - Phineas Newborn The Newborn Touch - Phineas Newborn We Three - Roy Haynes On the Spot! - Jaki Byard Here's Jaki - Jaki Byard Brilliant Corners - Thelonious Monk The Jaki Byard Experience - Jaki Byard Freedom Together! - Jaki Byard Sunshine of My Soul - Jaki Byard Out Front! - Jaki Byard Hi-Fly - Jaki Byard Live at Newport '58 - Horace Silver Lookin' at Monk - Johnny Griffin Way Out! - Johnny Griffin Johnny Griffin Sextet - Johnny Griffin The Art Farmer Septet Plays the Arrangements and Compositions of Gigi Gryce & Quincy Jones - Art Farmer Septet The Art Farmer Quintet - Art Farmer Quintet Chet - Chet Baker The Chet album was mentioned on SH forums, so I had to act quickly to get a used copy before all the insanity begins, just like the Mancini CD a few days ago.
  21. I'm thinking I'm going to just go back to Apple Lossless. One issue with disc images is if one segment gets corrupted of a file, there goes the whole enchilada. dbPoweramp seems to have changed quite a bit since I last poked around on it, and can do EAC-level secure rips with logs, straight to ALAC. Which means I dont have to make a disc image for archival purposes, convert that to wav to import to iTunes, which will be converted to ALAC or AAC. Thats alot less babysitting I'd have to do for the rips. I'd have the logs and secure ripping I need, plus instant iTunes compatibility, all with a single mouse click. Now I've got to decide if I want an ipod classic or not. Maybe new ipods in September.
  22. whoa this is intense It will be nice to have a facelift around here. Dont see any smiles though...just icons.
  23. I officially work 37.5 hours a week, but its usually 42-45. Partly from the workload, partly because I like overtime $
  24. I need to work. Otherwise I'll just spend all my money too soon on Amazon. Work good. Idle hands....
  25. My comment was meant as reference to a power outage scenario. Our power is still functioning today.
