  1. Dynamic range of vinyl is a lot better than you think...
  2. Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: (pulling down a diagram of Chewie) this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense! Why would a Wookiee -- an eight foot tall Wookiee -- want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more importantly, you have to ask yourself: what does that have to do with this case? (calmly) Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me, I'm a lawyer defending a bunch of Nazi mods, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense. And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation... does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.
  3. Wear sunglasses?
  4. It's the day hungrych got oppressed.
  5. Not really. This is big tube.
  6. I really like breasts.
  7. The Eastsound is so last year, it's all about the latest $100 modded Chinese DACs that absolutely kill Wadias and shit these days. Wait, I've just been informed I'm out of date already, it's all about the iMod and v-docks now.
  8. Nope, I use 1633's, the 25V version of the 6SN7. The only pentodes I have are 12 & 6W6's, they sound quite nice in triode mode, but I haven't fiddled with them in a while and the circuits are still in the proof of concept stage. Personally I don't worry much about the power of the tubes, as long as you keep the gain down you can run them wide open in Class A with no issues.
  9. That's his sister, who's describing the incestuous relationship she had with reks when they were teens.
  10. Apparently, the word filter is somewhat smart, since I can still talk about the Montrose music festival...
  11. Nope. She doesn't have a turntable and she ain't got those speakers. Plus she hangs around on diyaudio, not head-fi, cause the latter rots your brain.
  12. So now I have to type "tr0se" if I want to type out the name of Mr. donkey fucker.
  13. My math could be wrong, but a gain of 15dB works out to a gain of 5.6 or so, so it's not all that high. I think could get away with using a stepper with only 24 steps, or if worse comes to worst you could swap in different transformers to drop the gain.
  14. I have no idea who makes these things, but these are the ones I use.
  15. The software does indeed do word substitution. I propose that asshat extraordinaire be known as palmfucker.
  16. In this forum, we talk about pornography. And we can type the word "porn" without having it censored by the fucking bad word filters.
  17. Interesting...I've been wanting to hear the Duos for a while but can't find anyone who has them. I heard the Unos a long time ago and was quite impressed by them, except for a bass integration problem and a bit of a gap between the horns and bass module. But that was a couple generations of horns and bass modules ago so a lot has probably changed. What impressed me the most about the Unos was speed and dynamics, those suckers were every bit as fast as electrostatics with the effortless big dynamics that only horns can do. Really cool stuff.
  18. Do you like large breasts?
  19. I remember when you could buy'em for half that price...
  20. Electrically, the 6BZ7 is nowhere close to a 6922 except in gain. Half the transconductance, twice the plate resistance, a bit more gain. Given that the input & output tubes are direct coupled, I wouldn't drop in a 6BZ7 without seeing the full schematics of the amp.
  21. That's the icepick grip, also known as the serial killer grip.
  22. As a health conscious person who does not want to end up with emphysema, lung cancer, or any of the other shitty diseases associated with inhaling toxic carcinogenic smoke, let's just say that I don't smoke. So the answer is nothing. But I do eat magic brownies.
  23. I've had days like that, I fried the PSU on my KGCA when I went to adjust a trimpot and ended up shorting it out when I sneezed at the wrong time. Surprisingly the amp itself survived, but I had to make a run to the surplus store to pick up more PSU parts. Then there was the time I blew up the probes on my multimeter, I was measuring voltages in a rather tight space on my tube amp PSU. I found out the hard way what 500uF at roughly 350V can do when I accidentally crossed the probes while they were both in contact with the caps. The probes were vapourized, and my ears rang and I saw spots for hours. I had to get a new multimeter after that one. I've come to accept that blowing stuff up is a part of DIY.
  24. Or conversly, he has all that bandwidth because he is or is planning to host porn.
  25. Happy birthday! Without Tyll, we'd be a lot further behind in the headphone hobby, he's the key that opened up the headphone world.
