Would this be a good time to mention that my CD player is nearly 12 years old, still runs perfectly, and has yet to suffer a single glitch?

I modify my statement somewhat since I can now access the story. Charge the cuntface mother with stalking and criminal harassment. Done. Existing laws already cover this type of shit, there's no need for some special cyber harassment law which will undoubtedly lead to more problems & abuse than it can ever hope to solve. The girl still needs to grow a spine though, but it's a little too late for that.

For fuck's sake, if some whiny little dipshit killed herself because of the fucking internet, she's going to fucking die anyway in the real world once she finishes high school and has to move outside her sheltered little bubble. Boo-hoo. I call it Darwin at work, weeding out the weak because they don't deserve to survive. Pure bullshit feel-good law. It's fucking useless.

I can't say I noticed much of a difference after I removed the buttons on my Grado 225, then again that was a long time ago and I didn't exactly carry out exhaustive comparison tests. I just pulled the buttons off one day and that was that. I should probably stick'em back on or something and do some quickie tests some time.

Pretty much. Then again, that's what most mod companies do anyway since designing circuitry is beyond them. A couple blackgates here, a couple Auricaps there, some resistors & BB op-amps, and they hit you up for $600 or so. Problem is very few people have the knowledge & equipment to redesign and fix the circuit right. Hell, how many of people have $15k HP spectrum analyzers to chase out all the noise down to the -100dB level and way out in the dozens of MHz range, and furthermore know how to use them?

Hopefully, getting run over by freight train.

Too much edition 9 love in Headfi....have u listened to them?

If you like it that's cool, no one's telling you that you're not allowed to like it. I can't say that. Sometimes I can understand why a person would like a certain headphone even when I don't, for instance the Ety ER4. Too often, I'm left at a complete loss as to how someone could find something appealing when IMO, it has no redeeming qualities. Black & white fallacies and false dilemas are cool. Let me rephrase the above for you, "no headphones sound 100% natural anyway, so who cares if the Ed.9 ain't natural? Modern music isn't natural, so who needs a natural sounding headphone?" Some people still listen to these things called symphonies and orchestras, and this thing called live acoustic music, and they want their headphones to sound as close to the actual event as possible. If you don't, whatever, I don't care, and I don't think anyone else here would either. You're free to listen to and like whatever music you choose, and to have it sound the way you want it to, again, no one here is telling you're not allowed to do it though we may question or poke fun at your taste. -
They're exactly the same, yet completely different. It's like the Senn 580 & 600, exactly the same, but totally different. Or like the K340 & K340, same, yet different. Or crack & cocaine, same, but different. Or...

Basically, you count the resistors. For each channel, a series attenuator will have a resistor for each step, a shunt will have a resistor for each step plus one resistor as the series element, a ladder has 2 resistors for each step. Thus a 24-step stereo series pot has 48 resistor for series, 50 for shunt, and 96 for ladder. Shunt may have 48 as well if they simply short out the contact for zero volume.

Ultrasone is the new Sony, I haven't heard one which I can tolerate, let alone like. -
I don't remember to be honest. I know someone contacted me and told me about this place shortly after the Ohio meet fiasco, but I can't remember who that person was.

Cheapass beancounter who doesn't learn. Head-fi has gone down more times than I can count, and he never bothered to spend the time & money fix it right. Rather, it was one half-ass patch job after the other until the whole house of cards came crashing down. I have no sympathy for him, a crash like this one was inevitable and he took no steps to avoid it, which is completely inexcusable given the past downtime and bug history of Head-fi.

Speaking of which, you must download this file! http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/Finale4.ZIP Fireworks with full dynamics and no compression. Crank it up and wait for the big booms at the end.

Piano, organ, acoustic & electric bass, tympani, bass drums, reggae beats, synth lines, and of course cannonfire. Example. Tori Amos' Bosendorfer Imperial Grand piano, it has the sub bass keys that go down to 16Hz IIRC. Even if she isn't playing those notes, the strings will still vibrate and contribute to the sound when she plays any of the lower bass notes. You'll hear this quite a few times on her "Boys for Pele" album, without the low bass her piano sounds completely wrong. My RS-1 and K340 can do it at times, but not often, and only with the right music. That's why I do drugs, so I can trick myself more often.

Setup some Bouncing Betty's and concertina wire around your property. Don't forget the warning signs.

Really odd, my pair doesn't start rolling off until you get below 30-35 or so, but once it does it drops like a rock, pretty much nothing below 26-27Hz. There's another pair I know of that's been measured to go cleanly down to the low 30's, but it doesn't roll off as sharply as mine.

For some reason I read the tread title as "George Harrison", and I was like isn't George dead? And since when did he play drums? I think I inhaled too much solder fumes today.

And now for something completely different. A push-pull design using directly heated pentodes. Puts out around 4 watts per channel.

Get a can of bear spray, which is basically extra strength pepper spray. Give the cat a good dousing of the hot stuff the next time you see it.
