(yesterday) Got to be on the "crew list" for Norther California's Premiere Pink Floyd Tribute Band House Of Floyd, Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Cover Songs, California My job was to capture the band in HD, as the don't have any decent footage of themselves. So here I am back with the computer controlled lighting, lasers and video projection. I even got a feed from the soundboard, hence the cable from the balcony. And here they are on stage. Throughly enjoyable gig, with a 3-hour set list featuring lots of favorites. The locals added to teh *cough* "atmosphere" *cough One particularly vocal young lass shouted out "Echoes!, Fuckin A!" when the organ/sonar pings started up. The end of the second set contained the witticism "Well, we only have time to play one more ..... (pause) .... album" before launching into the complete Dark Side of The Moon. Which they nailed. Fun evening.

Don't fret. I'm sure a group hug, and some adult beverages at CJ will help ease the pain

Happy Birthday. Have a good one. Looking forward to the play-by-play at CJ

Ahh, Eurotrash I once learnt from a french co-worker that Antoine de Caunes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia was a very sophisticated frenchman, a chat show host in france with a perfect command of english, and that 'ees funny fronch accent was just a little joke for hees breeteesh chums. I used Eurotrash as an example to to explain the concept of Post Pub TV, recently, without much success. And the series Ban This Filth! (NSFW) Pensioners Barbara, Jill and Brenda are on a tirade against Britain's moral decline. The ladies run their Ban This Filth campaign from the chintz and comfort of Barbara's country cottage. They are delighted to have been awarded a six-part weekly series, which they intend to use to highlight evidence of the debauched state of the nation. Each week the moral campaigners will tirelessly seek out all that is smutty, rude and sexually explicit on TV and in the cinema, both at home and abroad, and then show it to viewers. As a warning, naturally. Each show features a round up of what not to watch on TV in the coming week, with clips of all the most explicit bits and full listings of when the shows will be on and what time the sexy bits occur (so that viewers can be absolutely sure to avoid them). There is also a weekly DVD chart, which will give viewers a rundown of the latest Hollywood filth to avoid. The campaigning blue-rinse-brigade is also very concerned about foreign 'muck' and Jill is their roving reporter seeking out graphic naughtiness of the European kind. From bum-jewellery in France to political pornography in Florence, Jill aims to expose the most blatant sexual material from the continent. With clips, of course, to inform UK viewers of the depravity around the world. Ban This Filth exposed all that is risqu

Concur with view on bacon. These colonials don't know the meaning of the word, or the true joy that is a real bacon 'sarnie'. Thanks for your input, education is a wonderful thing

Grahame replied to Chekhonte's topic in Portable Audio
Plays flac for me (Sansa Clip and Sansa Clip+). Check out the forum at Sansa Clip / Clip+ - abi>>forums for a good source of info. Using their advice, no extra software to install for Upgrading the firmware, or transferring files! plays nice with Etys. Plays even Nicer with JH-13's. No complaints about Sansa Clip+ -> Pico Slim -> JH-13's -

So, Craig, that probably means you were around for the original "Survivors", or the "you can see the walls move" low budget sets of Blake's 7?

I'm suprised this isn't an app yet Cupidtino is a beautiful new dating site created for fans of Apple products by fans of Apple products! Why? Diehard Mac & Apple fans often have a lot in common – personalities, creative professions, a similar sense of style and aesthetics, taste, and of course a love for technology. We believe these are enough reasons for two people to meet and fall in love, and so we created the first Mac-inspired dating site to help you find other Machearts around you. Cupidtino will launch in June 2010 exclusively on Apple platforms – Safari, iPhone and iPad apps. It’s time to share the love. Cupidtino via: Apple-obsessed geeks launch fanboi dating site

BBC America programs are often edited for time (check the program runtimes), Have Ad's inserted etc. If you've seen the originals, its hard to go back.

Dynamic range == Loudest to silence == Max Value - 0 == Max value == f (Bit depth). Resolution == smallest difference == Value of LSB -0 == LSB value == f (Bit depth). So Dynamic Range and resolution are both functions of bit depth. Hence Dynamic range implies resolution ( as a bit depth implies dynamic range). Both are limited by SNR aka noise floor. FR was mentioned to counter the unqualified , bigger numbers are better, position. Does that work for you?
-
Bit depth == Dynamic Range == Resolution* Sampling Rate == (2 * ) Frequency Response (see Nyquist ) So unless you are a bat, higher sampling rates are not necessarily MOAR Betterer ** * Subject to SNR if you insist ** Filering and aliasing artifacts aside

Concur with Spooks being enjoyable twaddle. We managed to get some american friends hooked on it. Their take on it was that there was a 'real' sense of danger, as from time to time the lead characters died (unlike US series), but you never knew where or when it would happen - hence the sense of danger. Add in some fairly dry humour, some observations on the expedient nature of politicians, inter service rivalry between 5 and 6, the nature of the "special relationship" and some plausible topical themes and you have a fun watch.

Let me know if you find any real world recordings with 180 dB Dynamic range

Interesting Radio 4 program, listen-able on BBC's iPlayer in the US, (for the next 2 days) here: BBC - BBC Radio 4 Programmes - The Art of Re-mastering Sara Mohr-Pietsch explores digital re-mastering: is it the art of restoring music to its original glory; or just another way of selling us music we already own? The whole of the Beatles back catalogue has recently been re-released in re-mastered form; a quick search of any record store or online shop will reveal that a large number of recordings have been re-mastered, from very old crackly recordings to very recent releases. But what do the words 'digitally re-mastered' on a cd actually mean? Sara Mohr-Pietsch visits London's iconic Abbey Road Studios (recently awarded Grade II listed status) to meet some of the engineers who re-master recordings there. She asks them and others from the music industry what re-mastering actually means. She learns that sometimes re-mastering can be as much about what to leave in as what to leave out. And is it an advantage to have the original artist involved in the process? Sara also considers the consumer's point of view; we've already bought these recordings on vinyl and cd (and possibly cassette as well) so why do we need to buy them again? Can the average listener hear any difference between the original version of (for instance) a pop song from the 1960s and the re-mastered version? Sara looks at the technology that is used to clean up very old recordings, where the music is often buried almost completely beneath noise and the sonic distortions caused by very primitive recording equipment. Whatever your view is of the value of re-mastering, what is clear is that the re-mastering engineers Sara meets treat the work they do with great care and reverence - they are often uncovering moments in history See if you can work out Thomas Dolby's opinion of Labels, and if the (re)mastering engineer is employing the Nuremburg Defense

Be careful what you wish for, although, to be fair, costume wise, you are asking the right person (Tyll that is). Vicki at can jam in This? Gets my vote! NTTAWWT!
