Indeed, for a system that has been orphaned, there are still encouraging developments, thanks to its open nature.

^Yep. Flash over substance. No tactile feedback, and if its re-configurable, no muscle memory. They need to speak to some real human factors people. But it is nice And there's voice control + steering wheel buttons. http://reseclectica.blogspot.com/2012/09/why-touchscreens-in-cars-are-very-bad.html http://www.conceivablytech.com/10260/products/touch-in-cars-is-still-too-complicated http://tech.slashdot.org/story/12/08/14/0350225/touch-interfaces-in-cars-difficult-to-use http://www.teslamotors.com/it_IT/forum/forums/dashboard-touchscreen

An ex co-worker dropped by at lunchtime to show us his new Tesla S . Its nice to be a kept man if you have a lawyer for a wife I guess ... Very Nice. And it can shift if you want to deplete the battery ... Impressive.

Vizio Soundbars? http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/06/four-new-soundbars-from-vizio-just-in-time-for-the-holidays/ http://store.vizio.com/deals/soundbars.html Manual says they have optical input, but only PCM (up to 24/192!) - can you rTV convert to stereo pcm for the optical out? e.g. http://store.vizio.com/documents/downloads/accessories/VSB200/271User_Manual.pdf

Read it and weep http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=64686 http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57471903-47/sirius-satellite-radio-still-sounds-awful-after-all-these-years/ Satellite radio had promise, but the usual market BS of having two incompatible standards, rather than having an open inter-operable standard, and shock horror competing on price / service / quality. So given finite bandwidth from the birds, and the marketing message that More Channels (N) was better than the resulting 1/N average bandwidth, what do you expect. If you're a long distance trucker, travel in the satellite footprint with line of sight, when out of cell/radio coverage, it has its place. But audio fidelity is not a strong point. It shouldn't be harder to put together a better sounding stored media solution these days. more chat here http://www.avsforum.com/f/101/xm-and-sirius-satellite-radio
