  5. Happy Birthday Knucks. Thanks for all the slow stuff from teh interwebs. brightens up my day.
  6. Read it and weep http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=64686 http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57471903-47/sirius-satellite-radio-still-sounds-awful-after-all-these-years/ Satellite radio had promise, but the usual market BS of having two incompatible standards, rather than having an open inter-operable standard, and shock horror competing on price / service / quality. So given finite bandwidth from the birds, and the marketing message that More Channels (N) was better than the resulting 1/N average bandwidth, what do you expect. If you're a long distance trucker, travel in the satellite footprint with line of sight, when out of cell/radio coverage, it has its place. But audio fidelity is not a strong point. It shouldn't be harder to put together a better sounding stored media solution these days. more chat here http://www.avsforum.com/f/101/xm-and-sirius-satellite-radio

  8. Just to add, there was more to the gathering than just Bacon. Al was on Traeger duty outside in a downpour to ensure that there was more than enough tasty meat for everyone, and Claire overcame the obstacle of having the stove die on them to produce a sit down meal for the multitude. A triumph over adversity. With bacon.
  9. Al and Claire graciously invited Joanne, a friend and myself to their family holiday gathering of the clan. The headcount was mid thirties, and division of labor had been applied to the food situation. Claire had jokingly assigned me "bacon surprise". Be careful what you wish for Hence last nights cooking marathon And a production line this morning. But the resulting chocolate covered bacon, candied bacon and bacon wrapped goats cheese stuffed dates were well received. I think I may corrupted some vegetarians on the way. Thanks Al and Claire for a great time, hope you managed to find time out from your hosting duties to enjoy the evening and the great company (and the Bacon )
  10. Happy Birthday Guys, they should make it a holiday , or something.
  11. Skyped with my mother when she was round my sisters family, so got to wish them all a Merry Christmas and happy new year, including My Ph.D Nephew and his Japanese fiance. Parked behind a silver SLS AMG at Blackie's Pasture (as you do) before walking into Tiburon with Joanne, got to Sam's Just before they closed the kitchen, so managed to have Fish and Chips outside, while admiring San Francisco across the bay. Coffee and Cake before the walk back to the car (say 5 mile round trip) Spent the evening cooking bacon and yet more bacon in surprising ways. Happy Christmas Head Case!
  12. Happy Birthday Ken Have a good one.
