  1. It would be interesting to see how the selections vary by county. If anyone in the US feels that an artist is underrepresented, I (or 'stretch) could compare, and vice versa. Maybe Tyll could get an article out of it. I could even get a U.S. Trial before the UK one expires and do a side-by-side . Thoughts / suggestions.
  2. Joanne was entertaining some book club couples, so I was "forced" to "endure" the following during the course of the meal. Stuffed mushrooms Colorful winter salad Roast tatties Apple crumble It's a tough job ...
  3. You jest, but this is from the Tidal account I signed up for (!) while in the UK, So probably down to geo-referenced ip licensing restriction shenanigans.
  4. Paper airplane search Alison Krauss search, -> Artist -> Albums -> More
  5. Dodgy metadata / inconsistent search graph. Complain
  6. ^Selling red vodka. Assorted cocktails and craft beers and Icelandic baked goods
  7. Tidal iOS, search Paper Airplane, multiple hits including albums with Alison Krauss as artist. Navigate the search graph via multiple paths to reach the node of interest (Two paper airplane albums + international touring edition)
  8. Lossless CD is 1411kbps, flac will be some fraction of that depending on the achieved data compression, then add album art, metadata, protocol overhead, etc. You'd be better off measuring it empirically, with a network monitoring tool, and a sample listening session, with interactions, for say an hour to establish a ballpark baseline, Then multiply up using that stuff you do for a living
  9. Some folks have mentioned if you change the trial Url, you can get a 30 day trial rather than 7 when you sign up, maybe next time when you rotate through emails / CC's
  10. The Access to featured new albums, is handy for the impatient
  11. Christmas at Downton Abbey! Er, Thanks Tidal!
  12. Thanks to an ickStream beta that's gone live, I can now get Tidal as an input to the squeezebox ecosystem. So now listening to gapless, lossless, synced multi-room new album goodness, streamed from the cloud, controlled by iPeng, because: technology!
  13. Meanwhile, clickbait on El reg http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/11/14/breaking_fad_vinyl_and_turntables/ Interesting to note that the flexson vinylplay ("The Digital Turntable") http://www.whathifi.com/news/ifa-2014-flexson-introduces-sonos-ready-vinylplay-digital-turntable http://www.digitaltrends.com/music/flexsons-vinylplay-turntable-makes-streaming-records-sonos-speakers-easy/ http://hifipig.com/flexson-launch-vinylplay-turntable/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-2768493/Flexson-s-VinylPlay-There-s-never-affordable-turntable-digitises-vinyl-sound-like-proper-hi-fi-now.html http://www.richersounds.com/product/turntables/flexson/vinylplay/flex-vinylplay-wht may be OEM'd by Rega ... if sources are to be believed Usual rich crop of quotes in the comments section

    Happy Birthday Chris!
  20. Happy Birthday Mikey! Obvious advice is obvious on your special day, or any day
  21. Transitional breakfast to help acclimate back.
  22. Swapped SIM cards, ahhhhed at the bay, oooohed at the sunset, fell asleep when I got home. Awoke at an odd hour, tried to catch up on things. Attempting to re-sync body clock by trying to sleep again.
  23. Up at stupid O'Clock to drive the rental car back to the office, where we get driven onto the airport. Our driver was a real "Diamond geezer" / car nut who took us by the back roads to avoid the M25. He kept us amused with tales of the modified boost (variable, up to 2.5 ATM) on his Toyota hatchback. He said he got 11mpg when he was having fun. Had launch control, or he could turn it off and go through 100 quid of tyres in 30 seconds, and impress onlookers (think POWEEERR!) He got us there without incident, and with plenty of time to spare. Joanne sampled some Haig Club at duty free (whisky for the non whisky drinker) and now I'm watching one of the younger brood cavorting on the screens at the Burberry store. Bloody Beckham's everywhere. Now to sit in a tin can with several hundred disease vectors for the next half day. At least I have Joanne and my JH13's with me. Onward
  24. Last "proper" meal in the UK. Take Away Fish and Chips from the local chippy. Parting is such sweet sorrow.
  25. One last pub lunch before braving the M25 Interesting reading material (How far have you got Mikey?) Joanne had Bacon, Stilton & mango Baguette, I had the Marmite Sausage (made up by the local butcher) baguette. Both too yummy to take pics. Onward!
