Third day of overindulgence, this time with another expat Brit for an early Christmas meal. Roast turkey with the proper trimmings (yay for roast parsnips and proper roast potatoes). Joanne and I were asked to handle dessert, so a team effort resulted in some home made Mince Pies. yum.

The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.

Quote from elsewhere that may be relevant " I had a good photographer attend one of my courses in the pre-digital age. He told us once you get known for producing good portfolios then it was the girls who asked if they could take their clothes off. " -
Almost had a thankless thanksgiving when a domestic "accident" sheared the binding posts off one of the Celestions (Note to self: use spades, not Bannana plugs in future, as they don't leverage the enthusiastic impact of a "Hoover" at the weakest point, on ~45 year old fatigued metal) So after some initial "fretting", thought about how it might be salvaged ... Some improvisation and meatball soldering ( a la meatball surgery) later, Voila, stress relieved, phase correct, functioning solution! +1 for a speaker cabinet that can be used as its own workbench, and Duct Tape Now happily listening to Radio Paradise, with a well deserved Diet Coke. I do indeed have something to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving Head Case!

^ if you're thinking about mini vans, interesting comments on el reg on how minivans are classified as light trucks, and thus don't impact CAFE values http://forums.theregister.co.uk/forum/1/2014/11/22/ford_b_max_the_very_essence_of_sense_and_sensibility/

http://www.dustandgrooves.com/book/ http://www.esquire.com/blogs/culture/eilon-paz-dust-and-grooves-book-excerpt DUST & GROOVES Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting is an inside look into the world of vinyl record collectors in the most intimate of environments—their record rooms. It all started out several years ago as nothing more than a way for photographer Eilon Paz to make use of his idle hours. Adrift in Brooklyn after emigrating from Israel, Eilon—a record collector on the side—thought it might be fun to start taking photos of people whose record collections were both larger and weirder than his own. Adopting this as his personal project, he began traveling the world, from Australia to Cuba and Argentina to Ghana, in pursuit of intriguing and memorable subjects. Unearthing the very soul of the vinyl community, the assembly of portraits he created quickly turned into the Dust & Grooves website. In the summer of 2012, Eilon launched a Kickstarter campaign that funded his road trip to shoot collectors throughout the American heartland, and since then, the project has been embraced by many friends and supporters who have volunteered to work with Eilon along the way. This year, Dust & Grooves expands even further, complementing the website’s cloud with a physical book that profiles over 130 vinyl collectors with photographic essays and in-depth interviews. Dust & Grooves has engaged and connected the underground community of record collectors. As well as becoming a go-to place for vinyl lovers, it maintains the integrity and history of vinyl, as well as the musical heritage that goes along with every record in these collections. As technology moves forward and many music formats go digital, Eilon’s endeavor helps keep the rich, warm, analog life of vinyl spinning.

Thanks to a recent Groupon, I now have a 2nd Nexus 4, so can avoid single point of failure. In the meantime I've done exactly what you'd expect. And then enabling LTE Interesting to compare different software on exact same hardware to see how a feel about it. tapatalk crashes when trying to add attachment, hence EDIT...

You've reminded me how bright the LED's were by default. Nothing duct tape, a hole punch and a sharpie couldn't fix

http://gizmodo.com/barbie-f-cks-it-up-again-1660326671 Despite having ruined her own laptop, her sister's laptop, and the library's computers, not to mention Steven and Brian's afternoon, she takes full credit for her game design— only to get extra credit and decide she's an awesome computer engineer! "I did it all by myself!" -
