  1. Catching up a bit on the notables. I have of course been listening to music, but just not posting. So a few things I liked. All Your Life: A Tribute to the Beatles Al Di Meola 2013 https://album.link/i/1564096794 Example: So to answer the question, do we need another Beatles tribute album? AbsaFuckingLootly. When it is our Friend Al. It is more like you are just sitting down with him and he is just jamming and picking on some Beatles tunes. Which I guess he is. Very enjoyable. And not too many demands on the royal ear. The Dharma Wheel Howlin Rain 2021 https://album.link/i/1574474906 Example: Need some 70's rock in a modern package? Have I got a deal for you. New to me, and I want to explore. Pretty straight forward, other than some monster works that rock hard. LIVE Chick Corea Akoustic Band 2019 https://album.link/i/1548821481 Example: Not much to say - it is just so good. Just a killer set. Hodges: Front and Center, Vol. 1 Owen Broder 2022 https://album.link/i/1689273550 Example: New to me - but put together a really nice set. Ears and eyes open for me. Reckless Morgan Wade 2021 https://album.link/i/1578973602 Example: I first heard Morgan in December, and I was hooked on her voice. Well her first album backed that up. Strong vocals, and some powerful messages. There are a few more mainstream in there, but it was a rewarding album. Okay think that I am caught up. - Back to listening.
  2. Cheers Kerry- Wishing you a Great Birthday...
  3. Okay AudioGodDelusion, I don't think that you are really contributing anything anymore.
  4. ^^ very cool - I thought it might be outrageously priced. But it is not that bad out in the market, thanks DG for not making it too exclusive. I am not familiar that recording. But thanks to discogs and a little research there is a version of this on TIDAL that I can at least check out (not saying it will be anything like 180g release) the performance. And it starts me thinking of various DG recordings that I would like original source versions (hello Karajan).
  5. The Extra Something (Live) Enrico Pieranunzi 2022 https://album.link/i/1610595183 Example: A nice set. On the jazzy side of Jazz. Really went with my evening.
  6. this - from another thread - thx Ric.
  7. Test post to see how the forum handles the Tak Tik: (Ed: looks like it works - sound on)
  8. One of the Library's missions is to preserve audio-visual materials. Library employees who work at the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) in Culpeper, Virginia carry out that mission on a daily basis. One of the formats they work with is old 78 RPM records like this one. Standardization practices weren't what they are today in the early part of the 20th century, so each disc is an adventure. The grooves can be different sizes, and some discs have spindle holes that were punched off-center, meaning adjustments have to be made so it can play properly. This is a quick look at the process of digitizing the audio so that it can be preserved and made more accessible to Library patrons like you! It features Library audio preservation specialist Bryan Hoffa. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtNSRL9gi0f/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I tried to find a forum friendly version to share - but it is just a short watch..
  9. Fenster Fidan Aghayeva-Edler 2022 https://album.link/i/1638350626 Example: Modern and dynamic. The works are atonal in nature, so not everyone's cuppa. I have worked over the years to be able to listen through the rough parts of music and find the resolutions. It is work, but satisfying in the end.
  10. What a great set and a lot of fun.
  11. Marlene Dietrich At the Cafe De Paris - Live Recording 1954 Marlene Dietrich 2010 https://album.link/i/370312817 Example: An interesting collection of mostly live tunes. I can here now that this was an inspiration for Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles. I still see her as an actress, but she was also a performer.
  12. What Is Love? (Deluxe Edition) Clean Bandit 2018 https://album.link/i/1436738680 Maybe not the highest brow tunes - but it works on a Saturday night. I think that the album made it into my queue after watching a Kenrick Sound video at some point showing off some pretty JBL speakers. I liked the production and jumpy Jamaican feel. So, I listened to them and I was like, cool. Wonder if they are popular? Oh, only 7.69 Billion views on the youtubes. So, I guess they are doing okay without my streaming numbers. Anyway, I thought it was fun. {back into my hole}
  13. Inspired by Greyhymm
  14. Wow - that makes me really sad. He was the soundtrack for a portion of my life. More listening to do for reasons...
  15. Dang - now I need some Ding Dong.
  16. Good first post. Show up, shit on someone, and walk out. Welcome.
  17. Mozart: Symphonies Nos.35 "Haffner", 36 "Linzer", 38 "Prager", 39, 40, 41 "Jupiter" Berliner Philharmoniker, Karl Böhm 1995 https://album.link/i/968876434 Example: This was a bigger undertaking and more rewarding than I thought. I have to admit that when I first queued it up. I just saw Böhm, Berliner, Mozart 35 and 41 on DG. Sweet. Oh - 35 through 41! oops. That is many more full symphonies than I signed up for. Furthermore it was not until I was well into the first movement of the 36th that I was like, hey - this isn't the 41st. {checks the TIDAL playlist}. Ah, 23 tracks and 2 hours and 27 minutes playtime. Well okay then. Fascinating journey. I don't think that I have listened to them as a set before (it was a lot of notes). But there was a flow to them and progression that I could pick up on themes or techniques that were presented in one symphony that are picked up and explored or expanded on in later works. And having them presented by a single source with Karl and BP really works. Now, not my favorite recordings, some passages are a bit heavy, the delicate phrasing can get lost in a bit too much power. But pacing and structure where rock solid.
  18. Interesting. My first music purchase Ever was the 7" Single - Heart of Glass. {I may have it}
  19. reasons I don't know Astrud's work that well other than the obvious. So, just a few hours of Top tracks. Such an enjoyable vibe and the vocal tone and work is subtle and lovely. rip
  20. A Pile of these: I'm not starting another listening project, I am not starting another listening project, I am Not ... Okay - just one more click and then I am done.
  21. Since I was thinking about it. Candy-O (Expanded Edition) The Cars 1979 https://album.link/i/1088527319 Example: Maybe it was the album cover and my young teen years that made me think about this album more. 🤓 But it was more unfamiliar than I thought. The first 4 tracks for sure were solid in my memory, so my brother must have played the first side a lot. Being '79 this had a much more 80s feel than I thought it would. Enjoyable with some gems in there, but not has cohesive as their first effort. The expanded edition just gives some other goodies and a few mixes that are fun enough. I do like the story that they brought Vargas out of retirement at 83 years of age to create the iconic cover.
  22. The Cars (2016 Remaster) The Cars 1978 https://album.link/i/1088527349 Example: It has all the hits and all the goodness in-between. I grew up listening to Candy-O so much more than their freshman effort. Just a well crafted album with great tracks and riffs one after the other. It will not be lost in my history.
  23. Stronger Than I Am (Repack) Lily Rose 2021 https://album.link/i/1590673491 Example: Strong unique voice. I really enjoyed this set. Reminds me of some bar folk singers that I listened to back in collage.
  24. this work of art.
