^^ I watched the Tiny desk the other day when it came out. Was not compelled to post. I thought it was good, I really liked her tone and style, and that was about it. I didn't really care about a 'jazz' label on it, and still really don't. It's music and it is good. Enjoy. So. I saw this yesterday and I really liked the song when I first heard it and how it was used in the movie. I took the time and listened to it again, on a good rig and with headphones. I can say that it is an audio treat, layering and depth of field. Really well done. What Was I Made For? [From The Motion Picture "Barbie"] Billie Eilish 2023 https://song.link/i/1696819855 No YouTube link this time, listen to it from your streaming service in high-rez with your main headphone rig. worthy.

A Disturbance in the Force: How the Star Wars Holiday Special Happened (2023) It does not make me want to watch the special again, but I do feel a little better for having seen it. And grateful that I didn't see the other specials at the time {Donny and Marie, Bob Hope, etc.}

CLOSURE / CONTINUATION. LIVE. AMSTERDAM 07/11/22 Porcupine Tree 2023 https://album.link/i/1714270546 Example: New Porcupine Tree live album? Yes please. Well recorded, and a good performance, considering it was a single show. I have been lax in my Tree listening as of late. TIDAL queue is just too long sometimes. But this was a welcome treat.

Okay Speaking of 1964 Speaking of Live Speaking of Jazz Trio Con Alma: The Oscar Peterson Trio – Live in Lugano, 1964 Oscar Peterson 2023 https://album.link/i/1702942233 Example: Now these are examples of good archive recordings. Well recorded, great performances and so fun. So many other unreleased live performances are unreleased for a reason. This does not seem to suffer from that. I also enjoy the 'album' format. 6 tracks - 43 minutes. I don't always need the ultimate complete recordings with 74 tracks and 8 hour runtime. {opens TIDAL and searches for '1964 live'}

Tales: Live in Copenhagen 1964 (Live) Bill Evans 2023 https://album.link/i/1715457640 Example: Great Sunday listen. It almost just sounds like live in the studio (no audience for the first 6 tracks). So I did some research. 1-6 recorded at Radiohuset, Copenhagen, August 10, 1964 7-10 recorded at TV-City, Copenhagen, August 25, 1964 11 recorded at Stakladen, Aarhus, Denmark, November 21, 1969. The recording of the second half of the album is still good, just not as great as the first 6. But it seems that Bill was really in a nice groove in 64 and these tracks are a lot of fun.

It had been a long time since I had seen any of these. And about a week ago YouTube served one up to me. I have almost finished all three seasons at this point.

My thinking is, that if I buy another one, then my 'price per unit' gets a lot better. right? right?.. eeahh?
-
wow, I might need a second at that price!

Happy Belated Todd - sorry I missed it in real time. -- Cheers.

RIP Norman Lear.. (101) Ed: It got me thinking about how much I have watched, and enjoyed his stuff. All in the Family - some, but it was not a staple The Jeffersons - yes and yes Sanford and Son - Hell yes (ya big dummy) Good Times - yup Maude - nope Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman - nope One Day at a Time - yup And that is the short list. Now you know why I am as I is.

Okay - not an apple person. And it is an ad. But a really good one. And not really fair using a really really good George Harrison song.

G.T.R GTR 1986 https://album.link/i/1036846135 Example: Nice combo with Steve Hackett, Steve Howe and Geoffrey Downes. This one got a little lost with the Asia albums coming out around all this. Seems like a side project for Geoffrey, and the Steve's wanted to play together. Not mad about it. I thought that this was an early 90's album in my head, but it fits in with the mid 80's as well. With Asia and Yes around this time, along with IQ and Marillion. Good Sunday listen as I bake bacon... :}
