Teflon Stax connector group buy/purchasing
PICaudio replied to kevin gilmore's topic in Do It Yourself
I have 100 pins and I'm going to buy 500 more, if you want I can send the pins to Flyingsparks, so maybe you don't need to buy 300 pins? I'll send an email to the seller of these pins to see if I can get a better price. -- o -- Rodrigo -

Congratulations to all those who are already enjoying their T2 and thank you very much Dr Gilmore and all users who have provided solutions for their contribution to this fantastic project. At the moment I can not spend my free time this amplifier so I don't know how I could help to this project. A few weeks ago I started buying parts for this amp and the KGSSHV. Last week I have sought ceramic screws to fix the sands to the heatsinks and I found a dealer of Singapore on Alibaba who sold me a few screws m3x12mm. The screws look good but when I tried to mount a FET in a heatsink the screw was broken before I started pushing hard (. I have in my work a torque screwdriver, but the minimum adjust of this tool is 2 Nm for this reason I can not know the pair of screw breakage. I am looking for another torque screwdriver with a smaller adjust to calculate the pair of breakage. I'm not sure if the problem of these screws is the quality of materials, the manufacturing process or are not suitable for the torque we need -- o -- Rodrigo

Teflon Stax connector group buy/purchasing
PICaudio replied to kevin gilmore's topic in Do It Yourself
No problem. I add the connectors on the Google spreadsheet. Today I called my friend to see if he had made connectors and told me last week he bought a 25mm plate because he need it for another job, he told me he will keep the price of 17 € per connector (because if he uses a thicker plate, the CNC need more time to do the connectors). My friend think that he will receive the plate tomorrow. He will do the connectors next week and he has confirmed to me that he could do about 120 connectors. -- o -- Rodrigo -

Teflon Stax connector group buy/purchasing

No problem, we have exceeded the minimum order. I've opened a Google spreadsheet to organize the group buy, you can edit the spreadsheet if you want to make a change in the order. The price of 17 € is for the teflon jacks, pins are separate. I have 100 pins that I bought to this seller on eBay and I've paid $ 58.5 +7,75 for these pins (about $ 0.66 per pin). I have no enough pins for all of these connectors, if you want I can buy the rest of the pins needed and send along with the connectors, so you should add $3.3 for the price of a 5-pin jack to jack and $3.96 for 6-pin jack. If someone in USA or Australia prefer to buy these pins and distribute them to the users in the group buy in his country, I have no problem to send only teflon jacks. -- o -- Rodrigo -

I trust my friend and I think he will do a good job but when I have these connectors in my hands, I'll tell you if we are talking about the same thing (same quality of PTFE, same finish...). I will ask my friend to do the connectors tomorrow, maybe I could have them next week. -- o -- Rodrigo -

I want 10 connectors and a user of the spanish forum (Hitoridekimasu in this forum) also wants some connectors so I'm sure I'll do a minimum order. One more thing, I forgot to mention that the price that my friend gave to me is the same for the connectors of 5 and 6 contacts. -- o -- Rodrigo -

My friend told me that he can do these teflon parts (PTFE), the price can be 17€ per unit with a minimun order of 40 units, My friend asked me if it may be possible a small design change, the original design of Dr. Kevin is 15.24mm thick and my friend can buy a teflon plate of 15mm thickness in my city, he told me if he can do a connector with less thickness than the original (0.24mm - 0.0094 inch)?? He can buy PTFE plates of 16mm and 20mm thick but are more expensive (about 2 € and 5 € per connector because require more time for work CNC too) I believe that this change should not be a problem? -

I did one nylon connector (I used the PDF of Dr. Kevin) with a CNC mill that I have in my job to test the final result, but has not been good because the CNC has a mechanical problem on the Y axis These are the contacts that I've used in the test connector. I don't know when my boss can solve the problem on the CNC milling, anyway I have a friend who may be able to do these connectors. if anyone wants these connectors, I can start a group buy next week. -- o -- Rodrigo -
Many thanks ujamerstand, I will buy the trafos tomorrow -- o -- Rodrigo

+1 I think I'll order the transformers in the next days to [/url=http://www.toroidy.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6&Itemid=7&lang=en]Toroidy. I asked for a budget of 4 trafos with these specs: TS 150VA PRI: 2x 115V SEC: > 1x450v @ 150mA. > 1x450v @ 150mA. > 15 - 0 - 15V @ 15VA. They gave me a price of 61 euros per unit and I think it's a good option (the price of Avel Lindverg UK is 107 euros per transformer with the same specs). I know I can use a secondaries with 100mA instead of 150 and 10VA instead of 15, but I'm not sure it's correct voltage in the secondary (2x450v). Can somebody confirm if these specs are correct for a 500v version? -- o -- Rodrigo

KGSSHV, Balanced Dynahi Rev A and DynaFET board run

Tran, I think 2 resistors of 1M (R103 and R107) are missing from the Dynafet's BOM -- o -- Rodrigo -

I've bought a new SR-003 in eBay and when I connect them to the Pro bias connector of a modified SRD-7 can listen to a small noise in the right channel, it is a small "backfire", as if the earphones were throwing a long fart. It is difficult for my to explain this noise in your language In the first moment I believed that it was a problem of the SRD-7, but when I disconnected the earphones I continued listening to this noise, I suppose that for the capacitive load of the cables. If I connect the earphones to the connector of low bias I do not listen to this noise. With music I don't listen this noise and the sound is good. These are the first electrostatic earphones that I have and I don't know what can be happening, and if it can be a serious problem. -- o -- Rodrigo

I have 2 KGSSHV kits and I need a minimum of 8 pieces, but if it's possible I would prefer having some spare part, if you can sell me 16 or 20 would be perfect. Many thanks Tran -- o -- Rodrigo -

Yes, it's a good choice, but I live in Spain and I can't buy in Mouser this component because they don't sell these references to the non-US buyers :(, I think that there are several users in this forum with the same problem We could do a group buy of these ixtp01n100d, I could distribute to all the users out of US these components if someone in US buys them for us. -- o -- Rodrigo -
