I think the KGSS should be on top...it probably generates more heat than the Stello

Coming soon, from Nate Mods, the iPico...

I think the Stax SRM-313 is very good for the money, but you might be able to find one of the older tube amps for the same price used

Skimmed it and saw no rating out of 100%, or numerical ranking compared to other headphone. Thumbs down

Since there is a $15k electrostatic amp now, I may have to consider an Aristaeus II with those upgrades

tyrion, I have one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822336002 which I connect to my wireless router It's worked very well so far. Advantage over the Time Capsule is you can put 2 HDs in it. I have it setup to mirror the data over both drives, so there is some protection against drive failure. Data transfer is not very fast, but it's good enough to stream video. I don't know if this is because i'm using RAID, and obviously this would be a very cheap RAID device, or if the network is to blame. I don't know what the Time Capsule's real-world transfer rate is. And this can be used with Time Machine by enabling network storage devices with the terminal

I don't understand the obsession with thin notebooks. To me, that's the least important dimension. It doesnt change how much room it takes up when in use, and it's unlikely i'll stuff my bag so much that a 1" laptop won't fit but a 0.76" wedge will. Take a MacBook but give it a slower CPU, substantially slower HD, no optical drive, only 1 USB port, no optical output, no firewire, no wired ethernet, non-replaceable battery, charge hundreds more, and you have the MacBook Air. You have to really love thin to be excited about this. It does have a nicer case though, wish my MacBook had that.

- 2 x 2.74 x 0.86, weight is somewhere between 0.2 and 0.4lb on my scale - Black, silver, gray, bronze, or any combination of these (front and back panels must be the same color). I'll also have more colors (at least blue, red, green) when i get the next shipment of enclosures - Without USB DAC ($299), with USB DAC ($499)....1, 3, or 6 foot USB cable included http://www.headamp.com/portable_amps/pico/preorders.htm

drp, you should try using the bag as a sleeve (cut off the bottom & remove the drawstring) -

The airport express has a PCM2705 in it. So whatever is going on inside the airport express is going to the PCM2705 the same way USB audio would from any computer, so I see no reason you couldn't swap what's in the airport express with any driverless USB DAC. You could also tap into the SPDIF output of the PCM2705 (thats what the optical output is). -
So it's fair to say you were a "moderator" of the 2004 elections

Homer: America, take a good look at your beloved candidates. They're nothing but hideous space reptiles. [unmasks them] [audience gasps in terror] Kodos: It's true, we are aliens. But what are you going to do about it? It's a two-party system; you have to vote for one of us. [murmurs] Man1: He's right, this is a two-party system. Man2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate. Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away.

If I had to guess I'd say Apple wants $100k + 10% of revenue for that. they charge huge licensing fees for ipod stuff -
Not sure what post you were quoting, so maybe I have the context wrong, but as an example Gilmore's discrete circuits (which are similar to whats found in a lot of high-end pre-amps/power amps) can't be made into an op-amp chip

I'm definitely going to be switching from a bag to a sleeve (or both) once i find someone to make them. for mine, i cut off the bottom of the bag so what was left is the same length as the pico, then cut out the drawstring. it works pretty well -

I had to decide between using nice looking screws, or using phillips that were recessed, because for some reason the flat hex screws are much larger in diameter & would be too big. I went with the hex screws, next time i'll just use the phillips. I'm now engraving the serial #s by hand...thrice's is an example of this -
I burned-in some of the first Aristaeus amps for 2 weeks before shipping since I had to have the transformers replaced (they were made with inadequate insulation and the originals shorted out after a week). Also a good idea since the tubes were all different NOS. Unless that kind of extensive testing is revealed, 0-hour, 50-hour, 100-hour... impressions will still be reported on head-fi, including my personal favorite "it was unlistenable out of the box"

Are there analog outputs on the Airport express and also an optical output? Open one up and take pics edit: here's a pic how does this work, do you need USB plugged in, or will it work over wireless ethernet?

Mike, I have to check the ones that paid in the past few days that may be before you but you're probably in the next 1-2 groups to ship My inbox is a mess right now...all kinds of requests... "ship to this address in the UK but ONLY if it will be delivered before 1/11, if not ship to this address in the USA, and if it wont arrive by 1/21 change the color to silver and upgrade the shipping to express and make sure you make the serial # the same as the date it ships" -
its a work in progress..

No, it is against their terms of use at all times. My suggestion: Google Checkout

It can be hard to sell the idea of overall engineering improvements, like time delays and slow turn-up of the high voltage to allow tubes to get warm first, or safety fuses on the high voltage lines. They will be built much better than the original electrostatic amps, the industrial looking enclosures such as what your KGBH is in are some of the best off-the-shelf enclosures but they aren't very solid.
