  1. The metal contacts inside get slightly bent from up/down/left/right force the bending of the cable puts on it and its enough to break the jack. The insides of the jack still look the same, it doesnt take much.
  2. I've used 3 different mini jacks on 3 different portable amps, and some of all of them get sent back with broken jacks. In the case of the Pico, i've replaced about half a dozen jacks, on every one of them an ALO dock was listed in the rig of the owner.
  3. Anyone who understands what you just said probably isn't going to be buying a pre-built portable amp. It's seen as a $125 portable amp that compares well against other $125 portable amps.
  4. Yes, Mini^3 Different Capacitor Edition would be a better name
  5. true and therefore he had absolutely nothing to gain by giving Ti credit for the design. he could have used a cheaper/easier design, called it his own, and it wouldn't be tied to what has a reputation, although unfairly, for being an entry level DIY design. so a lot of the comments in this thread and on head-fi are misguided.
  6. Same thing happened when gsferrari started selling Dynahi's for $600
  7. i dont know if they would have built in temperature protection, but they would at least have voltage and current protection. maybe the capacitors are enough to trigger the discharge current protection. try putting a resistor 10-100 ohms in series with each cell and see if it works
  8. There is no point, but if it doesnt work w/ 2x li-ion (what exactly do you mean by it doesn't work), then try 1x li-ion and 1x alkaline, and then see if it makes any difference if the li-ion is on the + or - side inside each cell is probably a protection circuit that looks something like this, so that needs to be added to the schematic
  9. What happens if you put in an alkaline 9V and a li-ion 9V?
  10. It would be a full-time job to make a thread with that amount of dedication
  11. How will this apply to high-end audio? I suspect eBay will get flooded with tubes as people look for things to unload and prices will come down significantly
  12. With the price of boards now, a few cents per board if any difference
  13. this is known as the Grado grattle, search for that and you'll get lots of info.
  14. i believe you have my cable

    Custom IEM's

The Sensaphonics use a softer material so maybe they are worth looking into. I once asked UE about this but they just wanted to give me a list of famous people that use them

    Custom IEM's

Do any of the custom IEMs have the vacuum seal of the Ety triple-flange tips?
  17. yeah, the lights all work. the problem is the car is worth $2200 private party value, since it was "Fair" condition, but to actually get the same car with similar mileage, engine and mechanical condition, a dealer is going to want $4000-5000. plus i probably would have to go 100 miles to northern VA where the good selection is. im guessing they're going to assess the damage at 3k and then offer me a check for $2200 and tow it away so they can part it out and profit on it. i'll have to try and negotiate from there. id like the 4-5k plus a rental car for 30 days to give me enough time to find a replacement. theyre supposed to have some bodily injury person call me tomorrow too. they got real interested when i told them my back was a little sore and i had x-rays on it 2 years ago. where's Mike?
  18. this takes the record for worst woman driver ever (old clip)
  19. Making a right turn in one of those lanes off to the side with a yield sign. I yielded, probably shouldn't have. Dont know if she was on the phone
  20. because of you, my lunch is cold and i have to deal with this crap On a funny note, the car that hit me was a Dodge Durango SLT and it had to get towed because it was leaking fluids and wouldn't start haha
  21. In that case, you need

  24. Chains like Outback and TGI Fridays arent happy about it because their most popular entrees have like 2,000 calories
  25. Oh, you're forgetting that university research that Virtual Dynamics did! You know, the one where the "researchers" couldn't figure out why they couldn't do a 10khz square wave with a computer sound card.
