  1. There's a measurable benefit to replacing the cable in these IEMs, if you get 4 wires all the way to the jack. The stock cables join the ground wire at the Y-split which reduces stereo separation. Enough to hear, probably not, but it will be there. This change is at least a billion times greater than what kind of wire is used I like cables that are well built, durable, aren't microphonic, don't coil up or are an annoyance. It will be hard to improve on the stock cable in any of these areas.
  2. i agree. people make all kinds of useless posts on there too, its worse than HF Dinny FitzPatrick How does "Deadwood" differ from, say, "Black"? ; ) November 12 at 1:26am

  4. Yes. You'll always find an aftermarket cable that equals the price of the headphone
  5. Balanced IEMs would be used by so few people, it wouldn't be worth considering making a balanced IEM amp. Unless of course you are also going to offer the $1,000 cable for IEMs, which seems to be selling just fine (balanced termination costs extra)

  14. That's just paypal being jerks, google checkout lets you refund like 2 years later
  15. I'm not sure why it matters. It's not going to arc because a small section of soldermask is missing. And that distance would have to be like 100x smaller to see arcing assuming there were no contaminants on the board
  16. i thought i was picky if you're ever relying on soldermask on an electrostatic amp pcb to prevent a short you're already in trouble
  17. if mikhail had used those, which half would have fallen off?
  18. I don't think anyone suggested that a clone of a PMD100 or PCM1704 would actually attempt to copy the design of those chips....ok, i think counterfeit is the word that should be used
  19. Hey, at least you know what chips are inside
  20. i thought Bayside was Mets?
  21. hitoridekimasu, you need to enable PMs if you want me to respond to you
  22. I think the best way to evaluate solder joints is to look at the OTHER side of the board. Ideally the solder joint looks almost the same on both sides of the board. Sometimes this is impossible because the PCB hole size is too small or the component lead is too wide
  23. omg, its jeff rowland style
