  1. Valdez, Alaska has the most annual snow in the USA, averaging 27 feet each winter. The record was set in 1989-90 with almost 44 feet.
  2. It's snowing at the DanJam beach house!
  3. we're fucked
  4. what if your amp design allowed the 2 minus outputs to be shorted
  5. didn't really buy it, but I do pay rent, and my heating broke a few weeks ago. New system installed is "Mr. Slim" Mitsubishi Electric - Mr. Slim Split-ductless
  6. that was when we were living in a pre-UE18 world
  7. There would be a small benefit in stereo separation, er i mean "music behind your head" going 4 wires to the plug... beyond that it's all voodoo Something JH/UE could do is replace the cheap tantalum cap in the crossover with niobium oxide caps costing a few cents more.
  8. That makes it really easy to re-terminate the plug for 'balanced'. ^ head-fi cable makers
  9. know what is way better on a stationary bike? competing against other stationary bikers online in a biking video game
  10. Headphone maker: KOSS in the news today - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio Very informative. I'm going to need a Top 10 Frauds comparison review before I can have an opinion on this.
  11. RMS = peak / sqrt(2) RMS = peak to peak / 2*sqrt(2)
  12. p2p/ 2*sqrt(2)
  13. rms voltage = peak to peak / 2.82
  14. The GS-1 and GS-X will continue solely because I still have plenty of parts that I've invested in. If I were about to sell out of them like with the Gilmore Lite, then they'd likely be discontinued until I thought spending the time bringing them back or redesigning them was more worth it than working on a portable amp or DAC. Right now I'm working on getting all of the GS-1 and GS-X boards I have professionally soldered and the supply of them is somewhere between a few months and a couple years, depending on what demand is when they go "In Stock".
  15. Why? There's no voltage option for 100V
  16. This is a modified version of KG's amp. Someone changed the output stage of the amp on HeadWize several years ago, said it was better, and since then it's appeared on every DIY version. The Gilmore Lite is about to be sold out anyway. on today's Head-Fi? They're about 6 years too late.
  17. I hired 2 guys from a local restaurant i was just at and made an offer to motivate them to do this now. Now its done and I'm no longer a prisoner. That was some good shoveling.
  18. Win
  19. made "progress". the snow on top the car is about 1/2 the snowfall. i got it cleared off once last night to try and keep up with it (fail). now i'm looking to get it out of there and into a parking garage or there will be pico slim delays
  20. thinking about how to get my car unstuck from the street. i don't have a shovel. i may just have to attack it like an animal
  21. about 16" here and about 12 hours to go...
  22. Oh, and Mouser does have a 30 day return policy.
  23. A cached page from 12/3 showed 73 in stock. But that was the cable connector. There are 868 of the PCB jack available.
  24. You also increase the noise floor, and the volume control becomes more of an issue as attenuation is decreased. As for improving control over the drivers a start would be to get away from using rail splitters as the ground. I could see it in DACs where the output of the quality DAC chips is already balanced and then currently it has to be converted to single ended. Remove that stage and connect the headphones balanced.
