  1. american or european standard? they flip the hot and cold pins
  2. what source are you using? is it XLR inputs?
  3. hey, he left out the ceramic capacitors in the signal path (even though the prototype showed plastic film capacitors)
  4. kitchen desk setup
  5. ok.. im switching to the PEEK screws for the BHSE. but those are all tapped holes, no nut. so likely just screw + spring washer + flat washer + transistor + insulator -> heatsink surface
  6. why not use a metal washer? i assume you're talking about the washer under the screw head.
  7. what did he do? disguise it as a flower pot?
  8. Steve, how much would you charge Larry? and do you take trades?
  9. i think colin was saying that you cant listen to two amps at ~20% of their rated power output and make a determination on which one is more powerful. that is generally done with psychoacoustic crap like looking at how much or how little you had to turn the volume knob. the reason for the ridiculously high gain on some amps. the gain on the BHSE is actually 1/2 what Stax puts on their amps because i think its excessive with all but the lowest output phono stages.
  10. http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?products_id=551&Cid=3c5cc05180a7f6992825909c26654198 this is a nice deal on a heatsink
  11. you mean 115dB /rudi
  12. jeff's pics are better than my own eyes
  13. that's called a man train.
  14. the pads did look like the ones from the Stax O2 but the stax pads have the thick part in the back and the ones on the Audeze looked more uniform. one of the co-founders of Audeze has his own "vegan" pair made with microfiber fabric.
  15. i saw a Woo amp in the room yesterday that was 2 large monoblock towers (like computer tower sized) with a Y-cable plugged into them that terminated in a 4-pin XLR on the LCD-3....feefee just boarded a plane.
  16. who is picking up ray???
  17. at least on HF i think people liked the "purity" of removing the cheap passive xover components from the earpieces. anyone could have just come out with a DAC that offers an equalizer on the plus side at least they are away from McBeth's signature amplifier hissing.
  18. oooh if you're lucky you'll get a Grace evil eye over/under on how many meals get sent back?
  19. i'll be there thursday night but i'll be working.
  20. doubt it. they'll probably just sit on it and do nothing. the market for this is tiny compared to the bigger business of selling IEMs. let the count down begin! is it 17 years?
  21. thats what i thought too. you could tailor the frequency response. how is that going to work if the crossovers are in the earpiece....is it just going to be an equalization circuit inside the amp?
  22. confused...i thought the 3A was already shipping?
  23. i agree they look real. if they arent as "clean" they may have been circulating warehouses around the world for a decade or two, or however old the C3675 is
  24. most people say they never hit 2GB but that won't last. in 2001 we moved a mile and lost access to either cable internet or DSL, leaving satellite as the only option. DirecPC had a 500MB/month cap...for home internet. now you could eat that up in a day just with basic web browsing. so everyone's going to have to constantly upgrade to more expensive data plans
  25. i wonder what's going to happen in the future with Unlimited Data vs. Not Unlimited Data. could it become the divide between the haves and the have nots? in a few years, 2GB/$30 will be nothing. maybe 10GB will be a new lower limit, but it will cost $50/mo. in a few decades we'll be paying $500/mo for data while all the early adopters still have unlimited data for $20-30/mo. or will they find a way to kick out those that were grandfathered in?
