  1. you could but then there would be no money left for TV advertising and to give Best Buy a 40% profit margin
  2. if they are these tubes, then I did have a set and I used them to demo at an LA meet a couple years ago. One of the tubes went bad with ~10 hours on it and I have stuck with the "Mullard" re-issue tubes and I have never seen a failure. it could just be bad luck. I also don't like the idea of spending that extra $$ on what most people will consider a set of throwaway tubes.
  3. i guess this is a bad time to introduce the HeadAmp CD & Cassette Transport...
  4. darkstar mute function, turn it up until you're deaf: mute.
  5. step 1: make portable headphone step 2: put STAX on it
  6. i think a lot of these companies end up in a 3-5 million annual revenue area, with no growth, and having to support a full management staff and all the crap that goes with being large enough to be a 'real' business. i guess it's hard to break out of that without going Monster/Skullcandy on your product line
  7. hopefully Tyll could comment
  8. i think you've just spent too much time in Manhattan.
  9. no way, they have more than $500k annual revenue. i would guess they are around $4-5 million annual revenue. really depends how much of the 'low end' they sell that we don't hear about. i think the $1.5 million sounds accurate.

  11. Proctor: All right, here's your last question. What was the cause of the Civil War? Apu: Actually, there were numerous causes. Aside from the obvious schism between the abolitionists and the anti-abolitionists, there were economic factors, both domestic and inter-- Proctor: Wait, wait... just say slavery. Apu: Slavery it is, sir.
  12. happy birthday
  13. thats too bad, but i understand. what JH needs is to remove the human from the process. have an automated online page where orders are placed, colors are picked, and artwork (if any) is uploaded. allow a 5 day cooling off period, and then LOCK the process by changing the status to "In Production". they must get 100 emails a day about color changes and i have been guilty of at least one of them.

  16. no. the only problem is if you're using a source where a 10K input impedance is too low. probably only a small number of tube phono pre-amps and CDPs with tube output stages would qualify.

it looks like the reason the price wasnt adjusted is because by the time the order shipped, the price was back up to $369. strangely, the order i placed yesterday shipped before the order i placed 2 days ago. i got the Indian CS center to adjust the price though. now i have a spare
  18. justin replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Off Topic
actually, Amazon did not adjust the price. Luckily, I ordered another one yesterday anyway, but I'd like the price adjusted on the first one too. currently chatting with their Indian customer service. ugh.

whats the HD600 sales price? i remember back in the old days when everyone just bought them from Meier for ~$200, including me
  24. justin replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Off Topic
thanks. i had already ordered from amazon and the price is getting adjusted.
  25. convince me not to buy the Lumix LX5 instead of the S95 (or the S100). i figure since I'm actually replacing an older DSLR with this, the LX5 may be more useful. For ultra pocketability, when I upgrade from the RAZR to the iphone 5 i am sure that will more than meet my internet update photo needs.
