  1. i asked a cable maker about it, and while they're still looking into the details, it looks like mini-mini cables from the headphone out will be pushed
  2. the new dock connector is described as "all digital". if they know what they're talking about, thats the end of the analog line output.
  3. jeff's house in DC
  4. weird, never noticed that error before. the 2SA1968LS datasheet says it is PNP.
  5. what you need to do is build the DC servo out of another dynahi, you know for symmetry. then you have to build the servo for the servo out of another dynahi. this would continue forever.
  6. i bet the ones on ebay are coming from the replacement lot
  7. it wasnt thru ebay. i didnt recognize the name because i remembered it as Nikko Electronics in the UK
  8. FYI - dalbani says they have 80 of those 2SA1968s in stock
  9. did they replace them?
  10. they could put the 5pcs in the small USPS Flat Rate Global Priority box, which i think is $16.95
  11. depends if they're to be used instead of paying higher prices later, or to be sold later for a profit. factor in the time/labor of unloading the parts 1, 2, or 5 at a time, probably over several years
  12. oh yeah, i'm kicking myself when i see quotes i have from 2002-2005 on 2SK389/2SJ109. less than $1 each and thats only at qty of a few hundred.
  13. 100 ohm resistor + 100 ohm trim pot is a much better idea
  14. i checked my earliest 2SA1968LS purchase from bdent (in 2006) i paid $3.90 a piece then. i'd guarantee the one in the photo is real. is that the stock you will actually receive is the question.
  15. i remember when mikhail had a couple thousand 2SA1968. i'm sure the price from Sanyo was in the 20-40 cents range. he just bought any parts he might someday use -- that was when he was going to build a point to point Blue Hawaii. wonder what happened to them..
  16. doh. the ones in the eBay pic look real though. all the 2SA1968 fakes ive seen are clearly fake if you've seen a real one. edit: i thought the Dalbani name was familiar, but the ebay link says they're in Florida, so i thought it was someone else
  17. if anyone is looking for 2SA1968 transistors, these visually appear to be authentic parts at a good price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-2SA1968LS-Original-New-Sanyo-PNP-Dynamic-Focus-Transistors-A1968LS-/110935720719?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d448c30f#ht_3700wt_1398

  19. temperature rise for a 12" length is about 25C for 20W
  20. i went with the Vishay SMM0204. way better than thick film chip resistors, but price isnt too crazy. Thick Film 1206 1% - around $12/5000pcs Vishay SMM0204 1% thin film (the round MELF package) - I managed to find these for about $35-50/3000pcs Vishay TNPW 0.1% thin film - about $900/reel...ehh no thanks, i need around 15 values...
  21. i dont have the BOM in front of me for the T2, but here is what I know that may affect builds: input JFETs: 2SK389 - discontinued years ago 2SK170 singles - now discontinued Linear Systems LSK389 - only available matched pair Nearly all Toshiba thru-hole npn/pnp transistors have been end-of-lifed or discontinued Same for the high-voltage parts 2SC3675 and 2SA1968 Unsure what the status is of the thru-hole NEC 2SA1486
  22. 2SK216/2SJ79 FETs have been end of lifed. trying to get as many as i can.
  23. im thinking of plugging 100 of them into each other and making it a 6 foot hard Stax extension
  24. all done, dropping them off at the post office tomorrow. will be listing single jacks on eBay, link coming later links can be found on the original post -
