sorry didnt know i was breaking the rules

its hard to do this with a regular scale, but my bike is weighing in at 16.6lb ready for riding, with the garmin computer and cadence sensor mounted, CF bottle cages, and speedplay frog pedals. lighter road pedals will take off about 0.1lb. i would guess for about what i paid for the bike i could get this to 15.0

pretty close to normal. inseam may be slightly less than average for my height. picked it up on tuesday, havent had a chance to ride yet. i did set the saddle height and have left the factory assortment of spacers in place for now

ive read that as well, would like to see it updated with some of the latest insulator pads

i got a good torque screwdriver and tested the M3 peek screws at the recommended torque which is 50% of the max torsional strength or 1.3lb-in. This is no problem if you have the PEEK screw threaded into a thick heatsink or flange, but if its being secured with a standard M3 nut (stainless) that only has a few threads, the threads will strip on the screw long before there is an issue with the screw head. The max torque with a M3 machine nut is about 0.9 to 1.0lb-in. If you are using a M3 nut, i would recommend getting a longer PEEK screw and instead of a nut get a M3 standoff of around 5mm length and use that as the nut instead so there are more threads

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Cannondale-CAAD10-Black-Inc-Di2-15-lbs-Super-Custom-Awesome-shape-/200965402047?pt=US_Bicycles_Frames&hash=item2eca78adbf good luck with the price (since i paid just over half that for a new standard 2013 build) i thought this was interesting though as it is a 52cm: is any normal person 5'11" and riding a 52cm? The stem on it looks real short too, probably 90mm as its the same stem I have and thats what they'd include w/ a 52cm I did just look at the geometry chart again, but more closely, and it looks like pretty much the only difference between a 52cm and a 54cm is that the top tube is 2cm lower on a 52 and they reduce the height of the head tube by 2cm as well. The difference in the reach dimension is only 1mm. Pretty much everything else is identical - seat tube angle changes 0.5 degrees as the bottom bracket is moved down 3mm. Difference in wheelbase is only 1mm. So if you add 2cm of spacers to raise the bars on a 52cm, and replace the stock 90mm stem with a 100mm, would it not be the exact same bike as a 54cm except with an additional 2cm of standover clearance? Just makes me rethink the whole "you look cramped on a 52cm" observations from bike shops. If all the frame manufacturer is doing is taking the same frame and moving the top tube downward, this does not change the size of the bike other than requiring an additional 2cm of seatpost and 2cm of spacers under the stem to create the same setup. Maybe the whole "cramped" look is just the shorter stem they put on a 52cm, maybe the handlebars also have less reach but im not familiar with the specs on those, and maybe they cut the fork shorter and include fewer spacers

i responded to a 'my used bike is special' ad as well. He said "good luck finding a CAAD10."

other than wheels, or the crank, and differences that weight distribution could cause, is removing bike weight the same thing as removing rider weight?

i didnt know until a couple days ago that there was a minimum bike weight for professional cycling. now that i know, id never bother with a bike that is lighter. its like how ridiculous aluminum bats got for baseball before youth leagues started restricting them

i hope it was the right call, i didnt get to try the smaller frame w/ a longer stem. In reading bike forums, i see more people my height going with the smaller frame, but I also notice it seems to be a competition on those boards as to rides the smallest frame for their height or uses the longest stem. Plus most shorter men are adding 1-2" to their height and are so used to the lie that they believe it. I go with 5'8" and i have measured at 5'7 3/4" . So maybe those other 5'8" guys on the 52cm are really more like 5'6". I even found one where a 5'8" guy said he was sized on a 48cm CAAD10 by his LBS. i think i could brake with my elbows on a 48cm.

im in as long as jeff lets me ride the calfee again if they dont build my bike in time. also i could most likely only do saturday. have a soccer league that starts sunday. games are 9:30 to 12, but schedule isnt out yet.

i got various opinions depending on who i asked. Some said get the bigger bike and tweak it, some said get the smaller bike and tweak it. The 52cm was fun going around the parking lot but i liked it less at the shop that gave me an opportunity for a longer ride on the road. The 54cm was the opposite experience. And considering I rode Jeff's 56cm Calfee for 2.5 hours on my first road ride, and had zero pain the next day, i went w/ the 54, which i think is also easier to sell if i want to change later.

Shop #1: i went out to a shop that had offered some really great pricing on 2013 54cm cannondales that they would have to order. so i went there to ride what they had, hoping that i would like and fit the 54cm CAAD10 and therefore also a SuperSix (carbon). They had a 2014 CAAD10 Rival in 54cm, so i tried it, and was instantly disappointed. it was an uncomfortable ride and it felt too long. They brought out a Felt F75 54cm, and that was a lot smoother and more comfortable. But it also had the stem flipped so it angled up. Then I tried a Felt F85 51cm (still in the shop from 2011) and it was my favorite, just felt nimble. Then I went on a 2014 carbon Synapse, which was light and comfortable but not really what i was looking for. So I left that shop thinking i did need the hard-to-find 52cm. Shop #2: Stopped at a nearby very overpriced Specialized shop, rode an employee's 52cm Allez. It was ok but going downhill I felt vulnerable, at those speeds it felt too small. Next I tried a Specialized Tarmac w/ SRAM Apex, and they replaced the stem with one 10mm shorter and flipped it. This felt pretty good, but i wouldnt pay what they were asking for it. $1650 for a 2012 w/ SRAM Apex, i think. Lastly I rode their carbon Roubaix w/ Ultegra. it was fine but i didnt really like pedaling it, at least with flats which is what i was testing on. also wasnt going to pay $3k for it. Shop #3: Finally, i drive back to my LBS to see if they had any carbon Cannondale SuperSix i could ride. They dont, but they do have a 2013 CAAD10 105, 54cm. Even though i already rode a CAAD10 Rival that morning, i tried this one, and it was MUCH better. Maybe it was just the first vs last ride of the day, or the tire pressure, or the seat height, or not liking the SRAM Rival, but i liked the 2013 CAAD10 105 a lot and had no issues with fit. So I decided to ask the owner about the 2013 deals since he has access to the same inventory as the other shop. Most of the deals on stuff like the SuperSix Evo Red were already gone in the past 24 hours. colors are limited on other models. It came down to the CAAD10 105 that i just rode, ordering a SuperSix 105 for $1500, or a CAAD10 Black Inc. for $2399. Some pro-ish looking chick with a Cannondale shirt told me id like the CAAD10 better than a SuperSix, which i hadn't even been able to demo, as the CAAD10 frame is more responsive. So i said "well...if you can give me a deal i cant refuse, i might go for that. you'd still make more money than if i just get a CAAD10 105 or SuperSix 105." And i ended up w/ $2089+tax = $2200 out the door. Not bad for a $4100 retail 2013 model! it should arrive later next week. back to work now..
