Just bought Stax SR-009 (arrggg) but no amp
justin replied to Jon L's topic in Headphone Amplification
ive done the mods on both 007t and 727 that i didnt sell. its not something i advertise though. the price could be lower if i could get a dozen people to send their amps in instead of 1 or 2 per year -
thats probably the cheater elevation though. i got somewhat close to Skyline, that would have been interesting.. one of them was a Cat 4 climb, looks like i stopped twice on it to refuel and check the map unlike Chris's route this seems heavily bike traveled and im almost dead last on every climb. Though i wouldnt be surprised if the top 100 people just cherry pick the climbs and go in fresh

just did my first road ride locally (solo) following a 33 mile bike club route and it was humbling. i was dead after ~22 miles and the hills just kept on coming when i was hoping i was on the downhill side. http://www.strava.com/activities/87392462 cadence wasnt working, i just put on a new sensor (put other one on my mtb last week) and i guess i didnt set it up. next time i need to be drafting Jeff. also its too damn hot.

Its one of the few tubes that could be used for a good OTL amp for dynamic headphones, not electrostatic. The voltage is too low. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
we could do blue ridge parkway sometime, my realtor just did a ride there http://www.realcentralva.com/2013/09/30/riding-to-the-blue-ridge-parkway/

if the govt shutdown continues, could we not ride Skyline Drive with no cars?

since i live there, obviously i agree with the location. i could try to find a good route sometime between now and then

http://www.strava.com/activities/85600052 did 3 mountain bike trail loops w/ 10 min rest inbetween. definitely the most miles ive put on that bike at one time. i lost about 80% of the rear brake after the first mile so that was interesting but worked out ok on this trail. due to some technicality in strava it ended up counting my rest prior to the final lap as part of the segment. bleh! otherwise it would have been the fastest loop.

ive been following those caps and similar for a couple years now, and they keep getting cheaper. pretty soon i will just get the 600-700v ones and use them as PSU caps in electrostatic amps unless there is some reason not to do this -
http://www.highlandsbikefest.com/mysql_registration.php do i need to register here and pay $110 or does that just get me a t-shirt
-
actually way more expensive. i used to pay under $2 for 2SJ109. if only i had been rich i would have bought enough to retire on them. my last buy of 2SJ74s was maybe 50-70 cents each at this rate people will be buying Gilmore Lites just to pull the 2sk389 and 2sj109s

i got a flight last night and just reserved the room. i get in thursday and will be visiting some companies in orlando then will come to sebring

i still have all of the 6AS7, 6080, 6528, 5998, and 421A tubes that i bought. the last version i prototyped was a transformer output version, thinking that it would differentiate it from all of the cheap OTL amps with those tubes that had flooded the market - and that i would have to acquire WE 421A tubes to ship with the amp. its still in my storage unit on a piece of wood -
i think the bike attached to your seat post is too short

im sure nate remembers..i spent a lot of time in 2006 or 2007 working on something like this, but never took it to production. just didnt think anyone would be willing to pay for it being done the right way when the hot thing at the time was $300 versions from China. times have changed though! -
http://www.strava.com/segments/3948590 going to attempt this on my next ride, 13% grade some pro named Ben King is KOMing all the segments around here

http://www.vacreepertrail.com anyone want to do the VA Creeper Trail sometime? trail length is 34 miles. from what im reading you can get away with a road bike with cyclocross tires, though a lightweight hardtail MTB could be ideal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvnBwFRE9nQ
