only issue ive had so far with iOS 8 is my siri voice recognition has gone to complete shit. I generally use it in the car, and maybe Apple changed the noise rejection algorithm because it also is supposed to act like Shazam now. I have a very hard time getting it to recognize simple requests for directions or sending a text or setting a reminder.

i went to the dark side and ordered a Galaxy Note 4 on the 1-year upgrade path. I have a Note 2 that has been in a box for the past 2 years which i used for testing Pico DAC compatibility. At the time, none of the games i was playing (like Simpsons: Tapped Out) were even available on Android. Now I have trouble finding an app that isn't on both. The big screen is nice, I like the pen and being able to create files and do what I want with them. the downside is I'll have to stop using iMessage on the phone, which probably means trying to use it on the Mac and iPad will do more harm than good. and no iCloud apps either, though they generally kind of suck and are limiting. I may just keep an old iPod Touch in my car to use Find my Friends app, with a wifi connection from the Note 4.

i had AT&T for a few days once. bought an iphone 3GS. i'd drop to no bars as soon as i got in my apartment. that was probably pre free micro cell days. i returned it, and i went another 2.5 years before getting a smart phone.

yeah, fortunately the plan was quietly introduced in august, so you havent been getting screwed for too long http://www.cnet.com/news/verizon-now-offering-60-plan-with-2gb-data/ i'm going to do this as well. over 1 year, it costs $330 for an iPhone 6 64GB, with an upgrade available at the end of that 1 year. Compared to $300 for the same phone with an upgrade in 2 years on the usual contract

verizon people..just changed my plan to $60/mo + taxes Unlimited Talk/Text/2GB data. no gotchas that i am aware of yet. Before, i was paying $108 w/ taxes for what I think was 900 minutes, 1000 texts, 2GB data. might have had the unlimited texts @ $10/mo in there, dont remember.

i like how it's about 0.1" narrower than the Note 2, but it won't be once it's in a case. and a case is absolutely necessary on an iphone. i would guess that the smaller 5.5" phone will come in 2 years
