  1. lol...seller is going the "my listing said no returns!" route. so i've started an eBay return which leads to a dispute if it's not accepted. don't think this person knows how the internets work..
  2. if the seller is interested, they can give me $1100 for a new 54cm frame, plus what it costs for a LBS to build a bike, and i'll ship back the scratched smaller frame. but that seems unlikely to happen
  3. well, to make things worse, i just measured the bike as i thought it looked a little small and i can't find a size label anywhere on the frame after checking the dimensions of the frame from Surly, i don't believe this is a 54cm, but is a 50 or 52. worst. seller. ever.
  4. im much closer than montana, $80 would be low for LBS packing, but that's no excuse for throwing an assembled bike into a cardboard box
  5. having some issues trying to quote posts i got the Surly bike today. It was inside a box for a Specialized box (ok, no problem). it was shipped fully assembled (handlebars on) with the front wheel detached. By the time i got it, the racks had come off, and damage has occurred to the frame paint/graphics, almost all the cables, possibly more. nothing was wrapped AT ALL or tied down. the shipper is an idiot. for a $80 shipping fee i expected a bike shop would pack it.
  6. not sure what happened here
  7. also it looks like saturday would be the better day
  8. not yet. looking for a final count
  9. just bought this as a touring/travel bike - Surly Travelers Check. it's the same frame as the Surly Cross Check but with SS couplers.
  10. ok, so maybe Dusty and Ben. jeff? let's try to plan on a day/time - i assume saturday and/or sunday. i do have room if someone wanted to stay overnight.
  11. if you were ever able to come, i'll post something well in advance. just a last minute thing now if there's interest
  12. Peter is on his way here for several days. Anyone want to stop by that weekend?
  13. HeadAmp isn't signed up because the London CanJam is the same weekend. however, if it's not too late, i'm considering it
  14. I cant remember if it's public or not, but Stax was showing some smaller amps w/ DACs a couple years ago but i havent heard anything about them since
  15. dont have to pay $10 to get in, i assume
  16. i did put your name down for an exhibitor badge. i could ask about adding more..
  17. seems fun to give it a try, i have a kurt kinetic rock n roll and a garmin speed sensor. am i good to go? any cheaters? is it possible to ride with friends on there or do you take what they give you
  18. has anyone been on Zwift yet?
  19. happy birthday!
  20. one thing i've found is that the phones can be extremely picky about the amount of capacitance on the 5V line. USB spec is supposed to limit this capacitance to 10uF. but in the era that the Pico was designed, nobody really cared, and more capacitance was usually added in order to filter the noisy computer power supply. So what happens is when you plug in the cable, the 5V is momentarily shorted by the capacitor and it messes up the handshaking. I've never used a computer that had a problem with this, so my guess is the phones are either more susceptible to this capacitive load or they aren't attempting to handshake again. I found that a small resistor such as 2.2-ohms in series with the 5V can fix this problem. If the resistor is too large it would no longer handshake correctly with my computer 100% of the time. This could be built into a custom USB cable, or the Pico could be hacked to add it. Earlier Picos had a resettable fuse in series with the 5V which had enough built-in resistance on its own. This fuse was later removed because it was never useful. You may be able to get it to work sometimes with repeated connection attempts or very quickly reconnecting the cable after a failed attempt this is what i found testing with Samsung phones pre-Lollipop, so i don't know if it all still applies. Never had an issue with the iPad/iPhone using the Apple CCK.
  21. i've had one that i could never find even after knowing exactly which trace was shorted, and looking at it under a microscope. it had to be internal. kevin's idea of blasting it with high current did the trick i also had a board where I had paid for the flying probe testing, and a short was found - i could see where they used a blade to remove the short. However what they didn't do is test it a 2nd time, because there was actually a 2nd short on the same trace. I didn't consider that possibility so that one took me a while to figure out
  22. i thought it was an arc in the pic, but it was a whisker that i missed. had that whisker not been current limited by a 1M resistor, it would have most likely blown apart
  23. HeadAmp will be there, represented by Peter
  24. wait, what's going on here? never heard of this new AK i'm still waiting for AK to honor what they offered to dealers last year, which was a rebate for purchasing a certain $ amount in 2014. they have refused to answer my emails about it and this was supposed to be applied starting January
  25. R19 and R8 are the resistor that set the current for the 10M90S. a value of 650 would probably be around 3-4mA, just going from memory of the datasheet. so you can calculate its power would be very low to measure its value the power needs to be off. if you are still measuring 19 ohms then lift one leg of the resistor and measure it. if you now get 650 ohms you probably have a bad 10M90S
