Continuation of R2R DAC Discussion From Stax Thread
Sechtdamon replied to Sechtdamon's topic in Home Source Components
Analogmetric has some assembled boards. here is one with some options on dac, digital reciever and oversampling chips (balanced I guess): http://www.analogmetric.com/goods.php?id=593 -
Thanks sir for sharing, was a great reading. Thanks @Tyll Hertsens for literally a lecture. It is really informative for a young newbie like me. But I found a mistake about stax L series pricing you might want to change: "the Stax SR-L500 ($1425) and Stax SR-L700 ($720)" Thanks again for your effort and knowledge.

Happy Birthday, Todd, my good sir. I collected some fresh "purr" for you.
-
Huuuuge adana kebab, çiğ köfte, haydari and ofc rakı. I was so hungry, I forgot to take any pic, sorry.
-
Heck Dusty, thanks. I'm considering myself a metalhead and I've never heard anything of them. And they are great. I've never been ashamed like that for a long time
-
Maybe a little heavy but: Necrophagist - Epitaph. It's record and mastering quality is beyond any other metal album I've heard. And there is a saying i've heard before: Chuck (Schuldiner) is god, Muhammed (Suicmez) is his prophet.

Well It's not an offical language sir. Basicly It's Turkish loaded with Arabic and Farsi words. Grammar etc. are nearly the same but, words are %80 different compared the modern Turkish. After alphabethic revolution letters are changed from Arabic letters to Latin letters but language stayed the same, slowly evolved to modern Turkish. You described that story of book so well, I want to check it.

Continuation of R2R DAC Discussion From Stax Thread
Sechtdamon replied to Sechtdamon's topic in Home Source Components
I know some manufacturers, uses 1704. Actually it is one of the most used chip on currently manufactured R2R devices, (Mhdt pagoda, all R2R dacs of Audiogd for example) along with tda 1543 as I know. I only listened 1704 on a hifiman dap (801 maybe) for a short while, so I doubt if I can judge how it sounds. They have grades, nearly all R2R chips. "K" ones are extremely hard to find and to be honest I do not believe there can be that much differences between j and k ones. I'll check further about tdp. But isn't it a cable impedance thing rather than input chip? But I only have Basic info about it. I'm using bnc on Atlantis, as I know bnc is more failsafe than rca on spdif. This can be helpful about your questions: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=25776.0 And why do you want to use specifically that I/V implementation? I shared inside (one all in one board) of Atlantis on stax thread, you can check it too. And If many people wonder about Ad1862 chip, I can send my dac to Usa, and maybe it can get a measurement. I'll add non discrete R2R chips/who uses them too. -
After struggling to understand elecricty lessons basically in ottoman language, I've found another very interesting rare book for my taste in English this time: I guess It'a doctoral thesis, the info it has based on really good sources. Most of the folk do not like İsmet İnönü for the struggle they endure during WW2 but he'd done pretty good job as I know.

Continuation of R2R DAC Discussion From Stax Thread

We'll meet with Mr. Tyler, Sir. I got a dac based on AD 1862; MHDT Lab Atlantis. I guess, when the time comes we'll compare them properly. -
We talked a lot about R2R dacs on Stax thread because of some bullshit design choices, And given the attention of the R2R, especially discrete dacs, I wanted to post all the findings in this thread. Discrete modules I found to play with: Transient Modules (the dac modules of 2nd and 3rd gen Metrum dacs) and Diy parts based on it (most of the parts they are selling as oem but diy parts are also avaliable): http://www.transient-audio.nl/ all parts can be found under this website http://www.transient-audio.nl/Ordering.html this is how to order guide Soekris Modules (there are two modules avaliable on each segment [oem and diy line], the differences between them are resistors which used on them): Diy type(195-295 Dollars) : http://soekris.com/products/audio-products/dam1021.html Oem type(260-370 Dollars) : http://soekris.eu/shop/oem_line_dam1121_en/ Hibiki Discrete R2R module (I do not have any Info on it) 290 Dollars on taobao : https://world.taobao.com/item/525195615222.htm?fromSite=main&spm=a312a.7700824.w4004-12659368213.2.4SmcUz Between 202 - 754 Dollars (incl shipping) on this website, there are 3 versions of it and i do not know the difference between them or if expensive ones are finished producs rather than modules) This one says aero edition but i did not see any differences between the modules: http://www.buyitmao.com/products/532950776394 Relatively Cheap Finished Products compared to well known abominations, based on discrete R2R modules: Soekris Dac 1101(based on old 1101 module I suppose, relatively cheaper than others, 650 Dollars): http://soekris.dk/dac1101.html I guess everyone know Metrum Acoustics' dacs (based on transient modules) Between 1250 and 7000 Euros http://www.metrum-acoustics.com/ Holo Audio Spring Dac Family (There are 3 versions with some differences between them) Between 1400 and 2400 Dollars: https://kitsunehifi.com/product-category/audio-gear/dac/ Vinshine Audio DacR2R Ref (based on soekris module, I cannot read which one as piece of the chasis covers it) 2100 Dollars: http://www.vinshineaudio.com/product-page/a5952b51-0edc-b170-4f94-648d4a9dec86 Denafrips Audio (I do not know anything about them but I guess they use their own R2R modules, and pretty neat boards they have. DAC-1Pro uses discrete module as they claim, I do not know about other producs) 3120 Dollars: http://www.buyitmao.com/products/520399273447 EDIT: Link (roughly) to pages in Stax discussion where DAC discussion starts.

300 $ is just for the d/a pcb Birgir. The cheapest commmercial I've seen is the one I shared. I've seen shitty diy dacs based on it for 600-1000 dollars. Well It's same story I guess... Rising of Multibit, and people hyping it cuz it is discreet. But tbh I want to listen to it. I've seen something weird pricing on ebay and amazon... 2170 system for 1,5k? Wtf? Srm-252s still on sale for 350$, so 207 worths 1200$ now?
-
Thanks my good Sirs. Well being aware of it helps a lot. And my limited info about psychology and psychiatry helps further. Actually, as my psychiatrist defines, my regular mood is hypomanic. And I can control myself in manic state, what is devastating for me is depression. I use that disorder for the good, I use it for the creativity it brings. And about serving as a soldier. I'm an individualist anarchist, at least I consider myself one. So I do not believe in army, I hate guns, violence may result death (I'm okey with fistfights) And certainly I do not want to put my life at risk cuz of bunch of losers cannot handle external affairs. And ofc I do not want to spend 5 month on something I do not believe. I'll be taken apart from them for a while Dusty, I'll stay at a hotel for a while In istanbul. but All of the remaining kittens are in home now. So my family going to take care of them till I got them new home.

http://soekris.com/products/audio-products/dam1021.html (module) This is the module. But I do not know how it sounds. (sorry, if I misunderstood, I'll find the manufacturer and add here asap) Found the manufacturer: http://www.vinshineaudio.com/product-page/a5952b51-0edc-b170-4f94-648d4a9dec86 (Dac based on soekris)

I'm sure using wood like that, can "warm" the sound, maybe tad bit more than required.
-
While searching info about soekris dac module (a guy from the other website, who has reputation of building most 'something' dac ever made) , I've found more interesting usage of wood: Well wood can be used in very different ways, and I really don't want to call the name of the shits on upside down pcb and caps. I'm going deeper into being offtopic but, Dr. Gilmore you mentioned kitsune dacs before, and I saw some posts on HF, a guy from kitsune asking for board designs to a guy from another MoT. Do they use that soekris module too? And what Lamp uses so "expensive boutique" shits that price differs 10k? Okey, tubes costs 1-1,5k, what about the rest? Correction: As I see kitsune does not use soekris. But still I don't understand why he asked for it.

State hospital already gave the report but It was not approved by government officals, now I checked from e-government website, It is certain: I'm not suitable for military service!!!!!1!!1! I got an "F" cuz of bipolar disorder I have! Yes I have pretty fucked up brain but, who cares!
-
Sorry for your losses guys. I've never offically made a dog friend but, It must be tough. Sorry for your loss too guzziguy. I can completely understand you. Rip Rugby and Gringo.

While children losing lives makes me nearly cry, the excuses of authorities push me to the boiling point. I'm considering going there myself and seeing what really happened, If I can arrange shits I have to do.

Thanks for the enlightment Sir. Much appreciated. About Metrum 1st gen d/a's dac chips. A guy from diyaudio forum claims they are Ti DAC8581 (based on being voltage out, high speed, and industrial grade I assume). Well I'm not sure about this info but here is the link of the dac chip: http://www.ti.com/product/DAC8581/description
-
Is it something like this sir? To change single ended to balanced? It is surely more than simple conventer adapter; ground loop eliminator, but I've never seen (never search) such a thing before. Can you forgive me for my ignorance and enlight me more please sir?

Yesterday, 12 people (eleven of them were under 12) died in dorm fire in Adana/Turkey. Cuz of fucking carelessness. The doors of fire escapes were locked due to safety reasons... FFS. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/11/29/twelve-dead-mainly-schoolgirls-turkey-dorm-fire/ I know, if I start to post death news from Turkey, I doubt if I can post that fast, my posts will swarm this topic... But still, 11 children died cuz of carelessness.

Thanks Mr. Tyler. I have some cooking skills. I fry rice in butter (real butter, not market one) for a short while, that makes rice so delicious. I can cook some traditional Turkish dishes but, I'm better at all kinds of meat, fish and kebabs (everything goes well with raki) And of course living in a small, rural town has it's own benefits. Meat, chicken, dairy producs, vegetables are all fresh and natural here. I'm going to miss that part of living here. And Mr. Tyler, I forgot to add, If you'll be avaliable, we can cook/bbq, eat and drink rakı together.

Holo spring is also in my "upgrade" list. Too bad Dollar/TL parity is pretty f.ked up now. I had thoughts between Menuet and this. But After Dr. Gilmore approves it, there will be no doubt. About cyber bullying him. Actually I started to feel bad too but, I was watching random It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia episodes, after seeing that scene, I started to feel sort of alright again. "Nobody loves salting the snail, but she (in this situation "he") gives you no choices."
