You are right guess just wishful thinking.

For $3k you get the earphones and the portable amp/dac. I did not realize until after talking with an MOT how strong the Asian market seems to be when it comes to portable audio. Seems like they can basically carry launches like Fiio and apparently now Shure. If they aren't as dependent on the US market seems they can basically charge what the Asian market will pay and the US market they only need to sell certain amount. I am sure the HF announcements help tremendously with sales of expensive products.

I think this will sell, just look how many people bought the Hugo and this is only another $500 and it includes a set of in ear monitors. I am intrigued but the question is why hasn't this been done before from other reputable companies (namely Stax themselves)?

I think it's a little early to start selling off the HD-800 for the 800s especially until they definitely announce whether or not they will allow you to send the old one in for upgrades. The other thing I am hoping for is that they have an option not to buy the 800s with that expensive balanced cable included.

I know this post is kind of old but if you wanted to add a subwoofer and say live on the second floor what about trying out a front fire sub? I used to live in a second story apartment and ran the SR6005 and it was pretty sweet even despite me having BIC speakers and BIC subwoofer (which to me btw pretty awesome budget setup for the price).

Why not just pick up the HD650 now so you don't have to be disappointed potentially by the HD800s price (whenever they announce it)? Couldn't go wrong as it's a great headphone that stands up to the very best despite it's age.

Narcos is a great series to start on Netflix as is Peaky Blinders.

Yah, Peaky Blinders reminds me of Boardwalk Empire in a way. Season 2 Tom Hardy was awesome.
