I have a bad reading habit. Most times I tend to pick up a book, start reading, I'll finish it without too much of a "time off." However there are a few that I have started and have taken a break from. Interestingly, I do seem to remember and ponder what's going on with the characters exactly at the place/time where I left them while I am off. There are some extreme examples.... The Stand: I left the troop of wanderers (not quite wanderers after all) stuck at mother Abigail's for about 1 month. So I wondered what where they up to, playing in the corn fields. Brother Odd: Left odd looking/following a bodach/beast (won't tell more so that I don't spoil) in the basement for three months. So I wondered whether the doggie would survive City of saints and madmen: Left the character looking at the beautiful woman on the window for about six months. I am sure he was enjoying the view.... and there are a few others... but the all-time record is Imajica: Left Pie'oH'Pah wondering the meaning of the dopelganger Self and Judith after crossing that funny sea. And there they have been, for the last TWO years..... I think that I got burned out on barker's style after reading most of his other books, the size of this one is not helping either... I am meaning to pick up this title again and read more or even finish it, heh. This is what made me wonder if there are any of you who do this. Believe me, this doesn't happen to all books, but it may be the the level of interest ATM I guess. So if you pick up a book do you read it from cover to cover within a reasonable period? Any extreme examples of time-off, disinterest? Edit, spelling!

I am not sure who made the wooden presentation box tough? from the ad, it seems a bit ambiguous, it could have been arranged by the seller directly?

Best SS-amp Today; Cost NO Object?
CD44hi replied to Contrastique's topic in Headphone Amplification
did moon audio had a solid state amp offering once? I seem to remember something. I also seem to remember a tube one? Luna? Are they still offered? -
Actually, as MOT, he should not have posted in that thread to begin with, so.... I still do not comprehend how he sees nothing wrong with all his comments that thread.... is it narcissism?

I don't disagree with anything of what you write. However, all this information is anecdotal and hard to prove. In other words, you know, the owner knows, JL knows what was sent to them and was done to them and where. However, given that the headphones had a different cable when they got to JL, they can argue that bad things had already been done to them (*I am not arguing they were damaged previous to JL, I am just presenting a case here*). So the issue is how to prove irrefutably how the cookie crumbled. That is what I meant.

I think the owner of the R10s is going to have a really hard time on this. The headphones, unfortunately, had been modified by someone else before going to JL. So JL is going to hang tough on attributing all damage to that previous process. It will be hard to prove otherwise, i.e. that the cans were fine before getting to them. I wonder how this thing would have de-convoluted if JL would have received unmanipulated R10s, and the owner would have been able to prove that. Not that I have any cans that need recabling, but even if I had, I'd stay away from JL. Their response is a classic response you'd expect from someone washing their hands and blaming other parties. damn! I have dealed with sellers that have come back with poor behavior like this appears to be, I can imagine the level of frustration.

Congrats on the beast. Regarding the name... when I was a kid, I used to read this comic called: "fantomas, the elegant menace," that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw your title, heh. To boot I believe this is a french comic character. now, no excuse for the pics, you must please us plebes, otherwhise:

LOL, cannot say that I didn't see this one coming.... I am thinking of asking for a quote for the price of 1/8th mods, those should then by magic interpolation [~$4500/8], be on the same sonic level of that of the RS1s......

ZYX Bloom, best bargain MC under $5,000?
CD44hi replied to luvdunhill's topic in Home Source Components
Oh, and yes, Mehran is the man to get ZYX stuff from. Out on a semi-tangent, have you guys heard any of Nami's CDs (mehran's wife). WILD stuff. I like, but I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea, the material. I think there are links for some samples on the website IIRC. -
ZYX Bloom, best bargain MC under $5,000?
CD44hi replied to luvdunhill's topic in Home Source Components
The brake in on my Fuji was even, no appreciable decline in sound quality. Mine is a few years old, with maybe 10-15 hrs a month of use, it still sounds great. Also, it tends to warm up quickly, in my experience it only takes about one side of play to come to full life. I agree on the nice and powerful bass. For headphones is no problem, but for speaker set ups, maybe having that "sub-sonic" filter may be a must.... But that is just a guess. cheers! -
Happy B-day Voltron and Smeggy!

How about this as a quick solution?

The last terminator related movie/show/scene I saw-- was hilarious: Fred Savage (playing a sex addict in a movie), enters a bar and goes into "sexinator" mode, starts the "target scanner," after scanning for a bit, finds a target and then searches for a "pick-up line" from an active menu, etc... well done and funny. I remember Savage's delivery of the last line of the scene was funny as well, but I can't remember it....oh well. I only saw the beginning of the first SCCs show, it seemed promising. Look forward to catching up.

Great write up! I have a Fuji R100 and I love it. Although the only other cartridge I've had besides that is a Dyna 10X5.. Very interesting regarding the zeroDust tip. That is the only thing I've used to clean it.... hum. Better examine that with a magnifying glass. I'll look into that magic eraser thingy...(any links for this?) I have the so-called "Silver Base" on mine from the start. I presume it helps, but could not argue one way or another as I haven't heard the Fuji w/o the SB. Thanks for sharing, good stuff. -
So got the ATH-W1000 in the mail early this week. They do have a lot of the characteristics of the W2002 sound, but a lot less finesse and resolution IMO. They are airy, yet their highs have that "je ne sais quoi" AT flavor. From memory, I found the L3K had less of it, and that is a good thing. So, the W1000 are not the holy grail in combination with the m902, but not terrible either. I am open to trying something else in the future, but as a close can they are doing the needed job at work...

How has your rig changed in 2007? And do you have any future plans?
CD44hi replied to postjack's topic in Miscellaneous
well you did blow us off that day: IIRC, Hirschizer had his SDS-XLR, ES-1, and other rigs ready for you to listen.....Dusty left that day like the flat was on fire after you called to cancel, heh! -
Yep, I should also agree with the point of being able to discern what's going on around it is important! heh. Another plus for the ESWs is the size, either easy to store at work or to lug around.
