  1. I have a bit of rattle in my knob and was wondering if anyone had a solution (… stares at swt61 …) I am using the Keystone panel bearing which seems to be comfortable with a 0.25" shaft and measuring that same shaft on my micrometer is amazingly 0.250". The shaft of the knob is 0.240", so we're talking about a 5mil gap. Ideas: some sort of adhesive teflon or even teflon tape? heat shrink (probably a dumb idea) some part buried at mcmaster-carr that fits the bill perfectly?
  2. Please send rejects to the official HC disposal facility here in the A2.
  3. Are you interested in selling the Quads?
  4. You need to check both probe orientations. 6 measurements per device.
  5. I like the approach Audiolab took: offer both digital and analog.
  6. This thread needs moar DOTU
  7. Now, Now... you are just trying to get a rise out of the Tice.
  8. The original uses the BC trranistors?
  9. Yup agreed.
  10. It is affordable, it's "priceless"
  11. Laxative Lightning?
  12. Do these other forums also have "Welcome PMs" that can be optionally read and not heeded?
  13. Hot
  14. Even if you can zero the offset, I want to see where the batteries end up. I'm guessing in some of the builds they are quite lower than they should be.
  15. That's very useful to know, thanks! Do you think the absolute values of the PSU helped or do you have another theory?
  16. I'm playing around with an optimization to the circuit and was wondering if I could post a survey question. All the measurements I'm asking for are available via the test points, so it should be easy voltage to ground from each of the battery test points voltage to ground from each of the outputs to ground I remember seeing a few of the folks not be able to get the output to ground measurement to zero, which impacts the maximum swing on the amplifier. For example, Inu's build. I think I might see the problem here (a small problem, granted 50V here isn't a huge deal, but for us that are perfectionists...), which is due to the fixed base biasing method of the darlington servo pair. Thus the hfe of the transistors might very likely have been hand-selected by Stax with a certain beta that has been lost to posterity. Also, the fact that the original was a furnace would have an impact on this aspect of the circuit. For extra credit, I'd love at least one person who can zero things out to measure voltage across R73 (6.2K) and R64 (510R) for one channel (I can send beer as a thank you!)
  17. Anyone know of a website that given a departure airport searches in the future to find cheapest flights? I need to also restrict airline, etc. I tried a few but all I found had annoying glitches, like not being comprehensive or not having all the results on the same page for easy comparison..
  18. The later. The former is a perfect way to describe how I feel
  19. Please lock thread. I dread seeing this on my recent activity list.
  20. I bought a Tom Bihn ID bag for exactly the same purpose. Has a shoulder strap and also has a second strap and holds the bag real secur e.
  21. If it's not tied to the original case, I would try to get more of the device case on the flange. IMHO the old design there is a 1/8" or so of the case off the edge.
  22. Interested but would want to see curve trace, etc. comparison of the parts.
  23. Um that's a gross misunderstanding of .. you know stuff.
  24. Wow, keep in touch...
