  1. Cheap will mean opamps. I would suggest Hagerman's stuff then: the Bugle2
  2. JH13s
  3. Try TRAX, it seems to work better than Sonore.
  4. If it was balanced bridged, the balanced input impedance would be double the single ended. It's not and that is odd. The other numbers no one can really dispute until they measure them, the input impedance should be something one can rationalize. It's odd, that's why I brought it up. Glad you are enjoying them, very compact design. How many watts do you believe you are running them at? Any idea what the input voltage is to the amplifier at your usual listening volume? They specify distortion at a much lower power than they are rated, I would assume that is because at full tilt the numbers are (considerably?) higher.
  5. French meets German
  6. It just seems that for something like this which says they have FET input (I read somewhere) and presumably a whole lot of feedback in the circuit, that number is probably wrong (the balanced number particularly).
  7. Why such a low input impedance? Seems odd. Any internal pictures?
  8. Can anyone recommend a cheap ($40?) repair stand that I can use to tune-up my bike and the kids? Prime is a plus, but willing to order anywhere.
  9. Has anyone utilized these insert connections for anything? "balanced analog inserts (S1, S2, R1, R2 jacks) which are post preamp but pre A/D.You can use the inserts to patch in analog processing between the preamp and the A/D converter. The send jack can also be used to send a mult of the input signal to another device while still using the A/D section of the ULN-2.This allows the ULN-2 to be used as an active mic splitter."
  10. It is quite possible that the "feature" will be disabled with future firmware updates of either vendor. There is no way to know the answer to your question.
  11. Interested, but last time I lived in Texas, K&L wouldn't ship here :/
  12. Glad you figured this out. Yes, it's possible for something more expensive to actually merit the additional cost. Best of luck finding the Schiit Whiskey of your dreams!
  13. Just installed a room-wide Engima Now listening
  14. So it begins (again)
  15. But can you _actually_ see it from space?
  16. You can have too much forum distortion though.
  17. Kevin, how are you processing the ISO files? Sonore, XLD, TRAX? I assume you are outputting DSD for playback?
  18. Portion of your design is copyrighted by Headphile and the other is very "un Dr. Wood"....
  19. The answer is "Yes, it still works". Sweet, very happy with this method!
  20. Any idea if a firmware upgrade for the 103 will remove the ripping feature? Perhaps I need to create an account on CA :/
  21. The only issue there is many board fans won't do plated slots. I would verify you have at least one reasonably priced fab that can, before moving forward.
