  1. so, I'm staring at http://www.fastener-express.com trying to add some replacement screws like the above to my order, but cannot for the life of me find them. Any ideas?
  2. nm.. makes sense
  3. nate: there should be a way to take a stop out of the rotary switch and then just add a third jack to back and then wire that to the newly created position. Are you going to try this? Also, what do you guys think of the Audio Note copper foil caps? Thinking about throwing those in there. I originally had the Jensen's and didn't care for them. I just finished getting the old leads out and the solder cleaned up and ready for the new caps. I wish I could afford those new teflon Auricaps ... Also, any idea of the function of the axial electrolytics near the tranny?
  4. In all seriousness, why not consider the new Synergistic line, Pranawire, Kubala-Sosna, etc.. there's lots of good stuff out there.
  5. oohhh.. that type of inter-connect sorry, proceed.
  6. that's a statement you want to make sure is surrounded with adequate context ...
  7. just don't get that thing near the blowtorch!
  8. I'm not as cool as Nate, but I'd say the pinched-waist Amperex 7062 input with 6BL7GT(A) tubes hits the spot with the 650/Zu. Also, the Sylvania 5687 (extra points for gold pin) work quite nicely with the 650/Zu.
  9. ought? add that to my spelling grievance list
  10. heh, well tkam answered my question thanks ... it's nice to be here!
  11. nate disregard my PM... nothing new there... time to experiment!
  12. um, 560v? don't bother... i just tried it. I have a Stax cable that I'm going to put on them once I make sure they're not going back to Koss... I'm thinking about sending them in just for good measure before modding them
  13. hey, why doesn't my PM outbox work? In fact, I'm not sure my PMs work at all ...
  14. Al: I don't see how you have not bought the Koss ESP-950... man, those things are loud! They could easily double as computer speakers
  15. ygpm
  16. wow... that's the worse picture I have ever taken ... it's like 80's dial-up porn quality... anyways, KG is right (of course) about the 620v bias with the Koss... much better...
  17. heh.. it's a KGSS aren't we getting ahead of ourselves... The light's out in my listening room ...
  18. finally got some pics.... now, if I can just get this thing cased up ...
  19. nate: do you have the spec on this amp? just curious for purely reasons....
  20. thanks Kevin! I'll put my externally adjustable bias to work I'm right at 600v now with ~2V offset... I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the bass... it really is insane.
  21. I finished up my Franken-KGSS last night and wanted to thank everyone involved! I'm running right at 35 W (just over 12 mA per device * 350 V rails * 8 devices, compared to 24 W ? of Justin's KGSS and the 40 W plate dissipation of the KGBH) and it sounds amazing. I'll get pics up once life settles down. It also serves as a rather nice space heater, as if we Texans need those I've been listening with the Koss ESP-950 and want to reiterate what a special headphone these are... my only complaint at this point, is the ridiculous amount of bass ... that's compared to the HD-650s too... I've been futzing with my cartridge alignment, so that could be part of it, but still... reminds me a bit of the Denon D5000 (which is not a compliment). I'm going to add some gain on my phono stage and start tuning my system around the new addition, so I'll keep you guys updated. The nice thing is, my seperate psu is adjustable up to 500 V, so I can play with the KGBH as well!
  22. i.e. here's a snippet: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/singlepower-sds-xlr-ordered-but-still-need-more-suggestions-269148/index5.html#post3429150
  23. which is alot less complete than it used to be... a lot of stuff has been pulled. one of the people who have custom ordered an amplifier should be able to tell me, there is some sort of a selection guide. I've seen snippets of it around... Thanks though!
