  1. I wish. I have a nice floor goban made from Katsura and a nice shogi table board from Katsura as well, both from Hokkaido. Kaya is so expensive ... I'd like to try and use it to put under amplifiers and what not ... so small blocks / cubes would be fine.
  2. can you get me some Kaya wood?
  3. I've been in and out of that transport. First, there is a company still servicing them. Secondly, the laser assemblies are very common, and run $10-$20. I found them at http://www.electronix.com/. I don't remember the exact part number, but it's not hard to find one you open it. The transport mechanism is made by Technics.
  4. One thing to note, is that there are various flavors of I2S. I just finished snooping on my new Muse player and found that they use the Philips I2S "standard" format, so yeah for me, as this dove-tails perfectly into my "plans". ! I have no idea what the North Star uses, but this would be the first thing to figure out.
  5. so, I just need to figure out when the K701 was released, figure out the maximum number of burn-in hours, then advertise a pair with this number of hours and some crazy burn-in technology and me + $$$ ?
  6. Thanks for fixing up my reply. <reply deleted> I hate people that do what I was about to do... enjoy the new player, and if you ever want to upgrade and looking for someone with experience with these players, let me know!
  7. nope, the EAD uses the Pioneer PEA1030 transport. The VRDS mechanisms are made my TEAC, not Pioneer. Wadia used both of these transports, but they are not one and the same. The Wadia 23, 301, 830, 831 use the Pioneer and the Wadia 6, 7, 8, 16, 21, 270, 850+ (I'm not sure after this point) use the TEAC VRDS transport. IMHO, the VRDS transports are much, much better.
  8. I used to own one of these, I thought it used the Pioneer stable platter mechanism? silly me...
  9. I know the feeling congrats!
  10. making fun of Nenso
  11. in which case, see you in the "How has your rig changed in 2008? And do you have any future plans?" thread
  12. I'm not arguring this fact, but that amp is puuuuuuuuuure profit
  13. yup, me too aside for all those orange and black cylinders in there, looks great
  14. fantastic set. Especially if you prognosticated its release, and sold the older less comprehensive box set and then bought this one and were out a total of $20
  15. granted I was just nit-picking grawk... as for the sigma22, I'd probably disagree, case in point being the totally overkill, John Curl wannabe shunt regulated designs. That hasn't stopped me from building a bunch of sigma22s though!
  16. well, perhaps I instilled too much confidence in you, young grasshopper. It's just a guess after all. you could also try taking that Y splitter that caused the problem in dallas (provided it's the right gender) and sticking both outputs off one jack.
  17. toss the ones that won't fit on the end of a garden hose for sure...
  18. not with those puny 5AR4s and Hammond chokes, that's for sure. How about some WE314A and Lundahl LL1638 with parallel coils?
  19. ya, but the tubes are rectifier for a psu, which the beta22 isn't (it's an amplifier), so this is somewhat non sequitor. A beta22 with a tube rectified and choke loaded power supply would definitely be doable and cool...
  20. er, maybe... I would stay safe with the 560v that Sennheiser recommends. What amp will you be bringing, perhaps the bias is adjustable?
  21. nope
  22. no problem! I'm assuming that the "yes" means you tried it and it worked, not that it has the outputs and you're going to buy some interconnects to see if it might work?
  23. can you whistle and hum at the same time and control the two pitches individually?
  24. Elementary my dear Watson... Can you run an unbalanced output from the PCA-2 to the subwoofer?
