So, the A-Maze-N was a bit of a fail. I left the pellets outside not really thinking about it and I think they absorbed water. They just wouldn’t stay smoking. Things turned out well enough despite no smoke flavor. Today, I did three different quick pickle variants and just got them in the fridge:
Looks like the BF862 is finally seeing its demise. It was labeled EOL a while back and now the part hoarders are sucking them dry. There are a few left at Newark, so I ordered some. Good parts for MC phono-stage input, which was my use. You can also parallel them a get a good 2SK170 replacement - folks even made boards to stick four of them together.
Put two pork shoulders in a Trader Joe’s Spiced Apple Cider brine. Going to start early in the morning. Will be using the mazed-shaped Amazin for longer smoke production. Will provide pics!
Chris, interestingly, the drain and source of the Toshibas JFETs are interchangeable. I have exploited this to clean up some layouts. Just a fun fact, not useful here
Anyone have any 2SJ74GR they would be willing to trade? I can provide BL or V matched sets in exchange. Ideally, I could get around 50 of these. Also, for those that have secret transistor sources, I would like some more 2SJ313/2SK2014 if you see them around.
They would be part of a trade deal, so having to put a price on them. What would you expect for example a Samaroli Caol Ila 1998 Vintage (“Singles Collection") to go for? I could use that to tease out the street value of the rum. I haven’t tried any non HC Cuban rums, both Samaroli and Cadenhead seem to have some.
Re-reflowing a part is very hard. Sadly, I have thrown out more than a few of those same regulator packages. Once the board isn’t completely flat it’s very hard to get things rectified.
I will defend this one as I do it a lot. Picking JFETs that don’t need degeneration is optimal. It’s done in more than one commercial design as well, such as the First Watt J2. Now, the other shit I can’t defend
