none with double crowns. I compiled a list of units that are known to ship with these oddities and none can be had for less than a few grand. My strategy is to find ungraded chips that test well, or ungraded chips with the same batch numbers as those that S2 chips came from. The latter strategy is playing out well for me, as I don't have the equipment to pursue the former. Also, I have around 50 TDA1543/TDA1543A and have been just randomly plugging them in and listening and there are some that sound better than others. Remember, these chips were never graded at all.

not as pretty as Spritzer's. You loose. Does anyone mod these DACs? Seems like it would be an interesting experiment (for someone, not me)...

What did you do today?
congrats man!

Battery version of RA1 but with AC adapter?
this project has so much "fail" potential, given the "questions" asked... just use rechargeable batteries and be done with it.

Speaker cable with small/skinny spade plugs?
try the cheapest spades that Kimber Kable makes, as Vandersteen speakers historically have the same issues and I've found that these fit very nicely into the narrow barrier strips.

Post the last thing you bought!
hey, can you use the mylar tape with that platter if you ride it up above the string grooves?

The Headcase Stax thread
yes, if by extreme you mean fire and smoke.

What did you do today?
1 part BBQ sauce, 1 part grape jelly. Simmer and stir on the stove, serve warm.

Dynahi?
well, since my amp would provide no voltage gain, absurdity is merited. Aleph doesn't have enough voltage gain (I'll go hunt for what I need) edit: according to Papa: "...which is about 16-20 dB (gain) and +/-20V (swing) per input leg" the amp can handle a +/-40V unclipped output in balanced mono (as it's called in the docs)

Dynahi?
just curious, are there any significant changes / improvements to the design? I have a set of boards and all the required parts, including transformer. I was sorta thinking about it as a preamp, but I would like to know its max voltage output, as I would use it into a Pass F4 current buffer and need lots of voltage swing.

yeah, I learned this the hard way.... me <- stupid First, why the hell did I even want to use ERS paper? and second, why did I stick it the bottom of a PCB? I have to say this ranks right up there with some of the stupidest things I've ever done.

B&D has 8 2sk389 in stock right now, I'd buy them if I were you.
